For the profitable ES Futures discretionary daytraders: What kind of underlying concept you use ?

"Margin" on FOREX is determined differently than
"margin" on FUTURES, is determined differently than "margin" on EQUITIES,
is determined differently than "margin" for virtuals.

Margin is not some universally applied/applicable thing.

FWIW... for Futures like ES, the correct terminology for margin is "performance bond".

You can say 1% of 1% of all Forex traders are highly consistent profitable. There are stats that there are 10 million Forex traders worldwide. So basically 1000 such consistent traders at least do exist.

I can't trade "discretionary" as 99% is automated, if I were to trade "discretionary", based on decades of work of back testing, it be the same. All 4 methods can be traded on any futures or forex products. Two methods are based on physics, like a missile shot and another has to destroy, missile is price. Other 2 systems are chart patterns but very well defined, been working for over twenty years.

What most traders don't understand is systems have to be adjusted due to volatility. Many traders go for huge daily profits, I don't, go for 2-3 points with volume. I divide the 24 hour day into 3 periods, each have different volume. USA session hardest to trade but can do size.

Thanks for your input. But I have no trust anymore in any fully systematic strategy after 10 years trying it very hard to do so. I got some meantime success but shortlived as I aimed for Sharpe > 3 strategies. Any strategy below Sharpe 2 I consider as mediocre as it takes decades to get it rich from (starting small), so I have no interest in those. And yes there are some of those which work for longer time but it is simply not good enough for me. That is why I am believer of discretionary trading because you need to adapt to the market all the time, which is much better (than a few lines of codes of "hard" rules). What I found out is, that position sizing aka scaling in for example has the greatest effect on (discretionary) trading (as single factor for success). But this is no strategy or concept I am asking here.
