Well, they start off with the fact that they have no clue about how the Universe works, or how absolutely tiny and insignificant they are in their brief mortality, they cling to "I am a SKEPTIC!" as if our pitiful scientific grasp and logic is an answer (in spite of the fact it is constantly modified as they continuously discover how little we understand) A good example, is that first, they discovered first some 30-40 years ago that the Universe was much more massive - thus was born "Dark Matter". Then this happened again, so thus was born "Dark Energy". So in a nutshell, until recently, science was unaware of about 96% of the Universe. And they still do not understand much about this missing 96%. And a minority of scientists think the whole thing is unnecessary. Even better is the Multiverse - that there is a potentially unlimited number of universes, where each (or many) possibilities) exists at once. This is of course, because this is the best answer to current models. Even some cosmologists think they have gone daft... Belief is as real in science as it is everywhere else. Agnostics I have respect for. Atheists demand proof when they themselves have none and appeal to "show me your God" It is like talking to a barking dog in the petstore window. Anything you say only causes them to bark even more furiously.
*shaking head* You just don't get it. And it gets a little silly. You do know that there are many creation stories and many differing views of God don't you? Of course you do. And you'll run around thinking that those other views are wrong, right? You might laugh of pity those who hold differing views of creation and God wouldn't you? Of course. Do you know why? Because you're an atheist when it comes to the other gods than differ from yours - a theist when it comes to the god you believe in. OK. Well, an atheist doesn't believe in the same gods you don't believe in, but for the reason that those people who worship those other god can't prove that those other gods exists but assert(claim) that they do. Well, when it comes to you and your god, you assert (claim) that it does exists but fail to back that claim up. So, since none of the asserted (claimed) gods have been proven to exist, what's an atheist to conclude? That there's a god yet to be asserted that exists? Why? So since none of the asserted gods have been proven to exist, the atheist and agnostic are left to examine the material universe based on material evidence. That's all there is to work with. Sciences best guesses are based on and derived from material reality. Because that is all there is to work with. Even if you assert "god did it!" the question that remains is how did god do it? As i said in a post prior, science is a work in progress. This utter nonsense about science being a religion is asinine.
I know, you're right. It's sad just how narrowminded the theists here are. They say in the most idiotic way, "prove god doesn't exist." Well, ok, but which one? They forget there are many more than just the particular one they believe in. It think they should start to ask the believers in the other gods, "prove your god exists." That ought to be fun.
A scientists who treats science as if it were a religion is not really a scientist. Scientists do have faith in something, the scientific method, but it is not a blind faith. Compare life before the Scientific Revolution in the West, and life after. No comparison. I always get a kick out of people who put down scientists and then run to the doctor when they have some serious illness. When they need it, THEN they trust science. Compare life TODAY where the scientific method is used, and where it isn't. In some parts of the world, they burn people they suspect to be witches, and call on witch doctors when they get sick.
Exactly. It's called trust. Poignantly said. Even the medium of the INTERNET and the computers that connect to it that we use to converse is a product of science, not religion. What's sad is that the theists here will look upon those that do this as savage and silly and debase their beliefs in the same manner they accuse atheists of doing when it comes to their religion.
You have to remember that most people of faith never think about WHY they believe. They do because they always have, because their friends and family have. Not everyone thinks before they believe (or not believe). That said, not all people of faith are mindless automatons who have not put any thought into why they believe what they believe. In addition, not all atheists or agnostics are highly intelligent critical thinkers who think before they leap. One reason why people may believe in God is because they really cannot consider a world without some kind of afterlife justice. People LIKE to think that Joseph Stalin and Hitler are going to get theirs at Judgment Day, and that infants dead even before the end of their first day on earth are next to God the Father in heaven. Imagine a funeral in which it was said that, "Gee, this sweet little baby who suffered every breath he took is dead, and will rot away in the ground until nothing is left, and one day, his petrified corpse will be wasted away by geological processes and turned to dust." Saying that this baby is now in heaven, and we'll see him again one day--that is comforting to the family. Who would have the nerve to say anything contrary? Fact is, this world is filled with suffering and injustice. Belief in God is so tempting, for that very reason. And one does not have to be a Marxist to see that religion can be a drug, a painkiller to help get through the day.
Oh, didn't you know? There is only one God, and that's Jesus Christ, the Risen Saviour, who Died for your Sins. Everyone on the planet has to accept this. It doesn't matter if you're Muslim, Jewish, Bhuddist, Hindu, Taoist, agnostic or even if you're a bushman living in the Kalahari. If you don't accept Jesus Christ (The Risen Saviour or The Riz for short) into your life, you're going to Burn in Hell for Eternity. Get it? Like I've always said, these stories sound like the hallucinations of someone on acid.

Well, Tdog, I took your advice and got to see what your idol dawkins thinks. http://www.expelledthemovie.com/enterflash.php How can one be atheist, deny existence of God and then moments later on camera say an intelligent designer is possible as long as it is not called a God ? It was quite amusing listening to him babble like some of the close minded people on here do. "Dawkins, understandably is nervous about this film, among other reasons because Ben Stein has him on camera acknowledging that life on Earth may, indeed, have been intelligently designed, but that it had to have been accomplished by space aliens"
volente_00 to paraphrase. It is logically reasonable to say God exists because you cannot prove God does not exist. Quote from volente_00: If you can 100% show me that God does not exist I will join your side tonight. If you can't offer evidence to your very strong statement then how is your argument any different from mine? I can 100% show you that God does not exist and I can offer evidence to my very strong statement. Quote from volente_00 The simple fact remains that you can not prove that God does not exist, so your basic premise is groundless.: What I state 100% must be true, because you cannot prove, that I can't prove, God does not exist. Nor can you prove that I can't offer, evidence to my very strong statement Should you argue against any of the above , you will of course have no choice but to be arguing against your own argument. In that case you will in effect demonstrate to yourself that 'you can't prove a negative'. If however you "receive" even more fkd up logic and now think you can prove my negative, then of course it will only be confirming God does not exist. When or should you ever work that through , all the same, please don't join the atheist side as you promise. With the approach you take toward reasoned logic, it is enough that you must already be inflicting awful nuisance onto theists.
