For Eternity the US can't cite protectionism at other companies true or not true?

  1. Since the us bailed out gm,chrysler, every single bank in the country, and etc citing their failure would cause systemic problems for the country. The same reasoning other countries in the past used for their reason to bailout their industries. Wheather its the canadians forestry industry or the japanese steel industry. So now it begs the question, how can the americans ever use protectionism argument ever again. The flood gates are now open, they would just have to say, if this industry fails or this company fails it would cause economic hardship. Protectionism is now a rule and it supercedes treaties.
