Food Shortages?

Discussion in 'Economics' started by Daxtrader, Aug 13, 2021.

  1. There is a bit of food shortage, however it depends on the coronacrisis I guess, because it affects the most food supply chain, as well as food production. In my opinion, we have to understand that this shortage will disappear as soon as we will handle coronavirus. For this, we don't have to protest against vaccination and other things. Corona is transforming every day and it's getting harder and harder to guess what will be going with it tomorrow. So, food shortage also can be connected with a boom of protectionism. I mean, lots of countries nowadays practice protectionism in economy in order to save their national economies.

I use Amazon Fresh grocery delivery. There have been a number of things not available in recent weeks, like frozen lasagna.

Costco shelves always full but Walmart ,Albertsons etc shelves have been 1/2 full the last 12 months . Nothing different . Hell stocks going up at least as fast as inflation. Fed says inflation transitory . Everything good.

    Hmm.

Its opposite here in my part of Florida. Costco has some weird shortages but Publix shelves are packed.

Paid $16 yesterday for 2 good sized New York strip steaks. There is obviously some inflation and supply problems but some of it is hype.

Gas is up about a buck here from last year.
