  1. Yes I agree, we are in an inflationary cycle. I can see gasoline hitting $4.00 buy August, current national average $3.12. This is the everything bubble, Powell can sure blow.

Can you name one thing that has fallen in price?

The Fed is replacing Bonds held by the private sector with the equivalent in private sector bank reserves. When bonds held by the Fed mature, the bond disappears and proceeds that came from the Treasury flow right back to the Treasury. The net is just the reverse of what created the bonds in the first place which was the Treasury exchanging newly printed money in reserve accounts for a bond. The net money printing step occurs when the Fed covers a net Treasury overdraft. What you are seeing is a well disguised interplay between money in private sector bank reserve accounts and money in the form of bonds.* To prevent deflation, government will always have to print at least enough to cover increases in productivity and population growth. Printing beyond that is fine so long as it results in investment that results in equivalent or greater increases in productivity or needed increases in private sector savings. However there are many nuances that must be paid attention. This is not an exact science ; it's social science, with all the potential mistakes that entails. The greatest area of concern here is Congress, which controls Treasury spending and taxation. For that reason we need to send smart, well educated people to Congress as our representatives.

*The Fed has to decide, based on where we are in the credit cycle and what it's economists believe is needed to push us in the direction of fulfilling its mandate from Congress. It has to decide if more money is needed in bank reserve accounts, which will counter pressure on interest rates, or in the form of bonds which will cause interest rates to rise.

  6. I think that's good news for the ones who were unemployed all this while. But let’s see if they’ll actually look after this or not.
