This opinion is VERY distorted and I base this on over 35 years experience in Miami, as both a full and part timer. Yeah, there are cubans living in humble Little Havana abodes and Cubans living in $10mill homes on Key Biscayne. Yes there are cubans selling limes in plastic bags along the roadway, and cubans running multi million dollar corporations with international reach. The mover's and shakers operate on a sophisticated plane at home in the "cubano" and "americano" communities; personally I think Miami really showcases many of the attributes of the American dream at its best. One of the reasons it will be a leader moving foward.
close to or on the water...... key biscayne, miami beach (which is MUCH MORE THAN South beach), the Surfside-Bay and Bal Harbour areas....although you give up size of House and property for location, unless you have the bucks. All of the above are bordered by the Atlantic ocean and biscayne bay. beautiful areas South....Pinecrest...Gables by the Sea, Cocoplum, old cutler road, big homes....acre lots....mostly a family and executive home area; I like it alot, as its spread out Also south but more "urban"...Coral Gables, the Roads, Coconut Grove, leading into the downtown....along Brickell, grove ilsle, etc. Improving areas along Biscayne blvd (us1) going north.....miami shores, morningside, sans souci, keystone point. And towards the north end by the broward county line....Aventura, sunny isles beach.....urban and more massive growth. Every one of these areas are very different, but they are considered by many to be the "best" ... also the priciest. There is much developement along the Miami River, Wynwood, Design district which are close in but very GRITTY still. They are not really "nice areas" now but I think they will be interesting unless the boom unravels! I mention them as many of the early south beach movers and shakers (when it was REAL and REALLY cool).....are buying up....if not moving there.
Quote from reid5525: So, what are the better residential areas in Miami Anything away from the person behind the et name "jackedup".
Aventura and Sunny Isles are nice. As Bal Harbour. Fisher Island if you're doing especially well in the markets.
Glad to help, but you really have to see for yourself, I am not sure talking to people is the answer, everyone has different tastes and being a newbie its easy to get brainwashed. Are you moving to FLORIDA or MIAMI? Big difference!
At this point the choice is between greater Miami and Boca Raton. My research is showing that Boca's crime rate is among the lowest in the country, and median incomes are high there.
