I think there will be lots of high technology VR things, Squid Games, and those things in the pit. It might be the futurist year 3000 pit thing, and not the ancient year 1900 pit thing.
This is just a move across the street. The pits are still open on the CBOE floor. They are just relocating the pits across the street. They trade these a hybrid model - so many of the traders have handhelds in the pit. Why keep the pits alive? One reason is they have very competitive upstairs trading of similar or identical instruments. Plus they are monopoly products and they still surcharge these - so they have a ton of revenue to support a floor. SEC ends the monopoly and floors could close. Collaboration is valuable if you are trying to do something extraordinary or size. Tough to do a facilitation - not impossible - in an all-electronic environment. Plus 24/5 is going to challenge pit viability. As CBOE expands worldwide it will be interesting to watch how these products evolve.
