    40yotrader,

I'm following this journal with much interest. I wish you all the best in your goal.

It appears that your present trading filter is a bit more complicated that your previous filter from your original journal where you only took a trade if the previous day's range was less than the day's before. Would you mind saying something about the filter you're presently using? And has it appreciably increased your accuracy rate (i.e. percentage profitable trades) of your system? With your previous filter you quoted an accuracy of about 50%.

can you post more stats for 2005? like #of trades, %wins, etc.

can you also show an example of this?

"Many times this causes a loss on one side of a volatility breakout when the reversal is entered during the retracement. Then when the market resumes the trend, you get another losing trade on the re-entry."

  3. I'm not going to be discussing specifics to my trading in this journal. If you discover something of value by scanning it from time to time; great, I hope it makes you millions.

This journal is to improve my discipline of following my systems by making me accountable to a journal on a daily basis.

  6. Day 8

    For Tuesday

I'll be looking to take volatility breakout trades. It'd be nice if it was a trend day.

  7. Day 9

Tough day. Looked like maybe a trend day down, but no!
Reversal trade saved the breakout trade and kept things in check.

does no trade mean no trade for one particular system but there is trade for another system going on or just plain no trade. Surely there must be some trade, somewhere on some market :)

  10. No trade today means the filter that decides what days to trade has indicated today is not likely to be a strong directional day. Therefore no trading for any of the 3 models will take place.

Of course there is plenty of trading going on. Just not with these models and not for this journal.
