I almost wish the republicans would do something this stupid because it would facilitate replacing the establishment cucks with people who would represent their voters. Bump stocks were approved by BATFE and they have authority to reverse that at any time. No need for a law. The law that should be passed is national reciprocity for concealed carry. Now it's crazy. Law-abiding people with CCW permits cross a state line and suddenly they are committing a felony. In Washington, DC, a notorious anti-Second Amendment city, tourists have been prosecuted because they had empty shell casings in their vehicle. This has nothing to do with public safety. It is just a way of harassing and punishing political enemies.
They were not "approved", please read back. Oh yeah, forgot he is pretending to have me on ignore because I posted that censored picture of nude Melania (which Trump sent to the New York Post himself).
This is correct. Bump stocks were not "approved" by the ATF, the ATF said the did not have the authority to regulate them under current law. So many republicans talk about fake news, but are getting their information from poorly vetted sources. No wonder the Republican Party is such a mess right now. Half of them are misinformed.
There is a definitional issue that BATFE could reverse its position on. Amending the law to give them even more authority to regulate gun components strikes me as not a wise move however. Bump stocks are hardly a pressing issue. One guy perhaps used them, so there is a headlong rush to make changes to the law. Typical of the way our idiot congressman act but irresponsible. Democrats will make the perfectly logical argument that banning bump stocks is just a PR move and that the real issue is the weapons themselves. What's Paul Ryan's answer to that?
you probably missed a previous post where is was explained that the BATFE determined it did not have legal authority to regulate bump stocks. Therefore it could neither have approved nor banned them. Legislation that would give BATF authority over bump stocks is being considered right now, this very moment!
Apparently what hasn't sunk in yet is that while it is an issue of definition, the BATFE apparently does not feel free, nor should it, to redefine what is obviously a rifle part or gun part as a rifle or a gun, anymore than they would, or should, feel free to redefine a fireplace poker as a rifle.
It was reported that the atf approved the bump stocks. And that's exactly what they did. They approved that bump stocks were legal. Now the resistance within atf is attempting to spin their way out of it. You have to keep in mind that these are the same kind of tuckfards that demanded Trump must condemn the white nationalists at charlottesville, and no one else, because if he didn't, it should be construed as an in kind endorsement of the KKK.
Are you agreeing here that this is a 'perfectly logical argument'? There is another argument, the one that will likely prevail. And that is that the bump stock effectively turns a legal weapon into an illegal one.
Lots of stuff gets reported these days. For example, 'Obama was born in Kenya'. I'll bet you didn't know that.
That's defective logic. It would be construed as an endorsement of, to use your term, "white nationalists", not necessarily the KKK. KKK members are, generally speaking, white. Some, many, or most are, generally speaking, nationalists. But not all KKK members are necessarily "white nationalists". However all, 100%, white nationalists are necessarily "white nationalists."
