Same could be said for a dictatorship. There were some elements of a dictatorship with the Biden administration. Censorship, lawfare, and fear of reprisals in various forms, from targeted vandalism or targeted regulatory enforcement related to DEI against businesses and "outspoken" individuals. Hopefully Trump will not represent a "Right" version of a dictatorship. Regardless whether authoritarianism is based on Left or Right political philosophy, it still stinks.
Didn't go, had a bit of Covid, not fair to even Spirit passengers Cousin went though. I remembered with a special peanut sauce they have in Pasto Colombia. As with Carter, I wonder how the world will do without this special guy. Natural selection is a harsh mistress.
So Donald Trump is being inaugurated on Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday holiday. MLK Jr. must be spinning in his grave.
Okay. Most excellent. Read my post above and then note the article below. This did not need to be that complicated. Trump gets way as flags to fly full-staff at inauguration despite Jimmy Carter’s death American flags at the US Capitol will fly at full-staff for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington DC on Monday, despite a White House order for flags to remain at half-staff for 30 days after the death of former president Jimmy Carter last month. The House speaker, Mike Johnson, first announced the change on Tuesday. In a post on social media he wrote: “On January 20th, the flags at the Capitol will fly at full-staff to celebrate our country coming together behind the inauguration of our 47th President, Donald Trump.” He added: “The flags will be lowered back to half-staff the following day to continue honoring President Jimmy Carter.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/15/trump-inauguration-flags-full-staff
