If you are not sleeping a good start is to take a look at what you are ingesting. Any medications, caffeine, herbs, beverages, or supplements that contain stimulants?
Pizza Well I do love pizza but I don't think it makes a difference other than obviously too many calories going to bed will make one restless. The only food that is important to me when I'm training is All-Bran as it keeps the whole digestion running smoothly. I am starting the ZMA Baron suggested I have no doubt it will help. Pondering it after some sleep today I think a little bit if intense cold therapy after working out will help also. I can certainly relate to that soothing muscle in my swimming days. I have seen this study on ice water immersion post training referenced a few times. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5317190/ "Key Points Cold-water immersion may be beneficial to jiu-jitsu athletes because it decreased markers of muscle damage. Cold-water immersion reduced the perception of muscle pain. Cold-water immersion assisted in the recovery of the upper and lower limbs. Jiu-jitsu athletes could use cold-water immersion to improve performance and physiologic status, especially during training phases in which more intensive sessions are conducted and at the beginning of the season." It won't cost anything to try. A Cesar salad pizza is great though. Just think of the pizza base as a giant crouton.
I bought a basic bath and filled with ice water. After my early morning stairs climb (22 stories up down carrying weights) I jumped in. A little heart stopping before coffee at 5am but my legs feel very good. My left knee has no swelling at all and it was always a little bad.
I used to do 40 flights x 4 (elevator down) and running daily stairs puts you in the best shape of your life.
Years ago, I belonged to a gym that had a cold plunge...great for legs post run. Yep, stair running is a great workout but running trails is a lot more fun.
I'm carrying kettlebells though for the upper body.. 40 flights x 4 would kill me. But you are right, if you live in a tower it is the best gym going. I have ordered a bunch of tungsten weights (dense 1.74 times lead, non toxic) to make up forearm gauntlets that can be hidden under a shirt. I used to use those when I worked in IT, a few KG all day doing the daily job and over time.. Also if you twat someone they think they were hit by the Hulk hehe. Once some black teen gangster kid let his dog off the leash in Tottenham, London but the dog started coming at me instead of the other park rat guy's dog (they use dogs as offensive weapons instead of guns/knives). I gave the pooch a back armed slap in the chops and the dog just went F this and ran away.
This is not really the place but I'm too lazy to create a thread though it could be worthwhile mentioning to someone. The Spanish/Colombian ex-husband of a friend of my girlfriend was chatting to me about how he had a bunch of health problems that never seemed to resolve. Aches, joint swellings, no energy, mental confusion night sweats (rigors) and a lot of mysterious testicular pain. Also mental confusion, he had been a pretty good salesman. He is 48 and has been feeling like this for 20 years and I reckon was getting close to topping himself having nearly ended up homeless a couple of times recently. I've heard of this from a neighbor in Ireland. We did the test and he has Lyme disease, he will be under antibiotic treatment for over a year. This is the German lab who I was told my a neighbor is about the only one in Europe that is actually capable of detecting the markers, apparently a lot of labs say they can but don't have the sensitivity. https://www.arminlabs.com/en/tests/elispot It is something Europeans barely know about but my neighbor who had it says it is way more common that people think. Something to be aware of, all the fitness in the world won't help with this. The guy is delighted to finally have a diagnosis as he thought he was just useless.
