Firewall/I.P. Question

Discussion in 'Networking and Security' started by hapaboy, May 15, 2002.

  1. Hi there. After being attacked by a virus I installed the Sygate Personal Firewall. It lets me know when my computer is trying to connect to a web site and lets me choose whether or not to connect to that site or not.

Most of the time it will tell me the IP address AND the name of the website, but sometimes it only tells me the IP address and not the name, which is frustrating because without the name of the website I don't know if it is safe or not.

Is there a way to find out what the name of the website is if you're only given the IP address? Is there some DOS command that will do that or a website that will do that?

    Any advice appreciated.

  3. It's usually not safe or private. Anyone attempting to get into your cpu or get any info from your cpu is probably not safe.
