As a scientist (in a former life) I'm always cautious when hearing the media, or those not directly involved, giving their appraisals of announced scientific advancements. By the time the general public hears about this stuff we might think it is too late to jump on the bandwagon, but in my experience it is usually too early. But if you are a short term trader, trading human emotion rather than reality, you could make money by getting in early, as long as you didn't stay too long. Look up the 5-year price chart for CRSP to see an illustration of what I'm referring to. (I don't think CRSP was around 5 years ago, was it?)

Based on my experience you are correct.

I do have a directional bet on CRSP, long calls. But I might have entered earlier than I should.

What science area were you in if you don't mind disclosing?

Electrochemistry. (The part of chemistry that deals specifically with electron transfer reactions.)

    I am impressed.

Must be fun but probably not as much fun as trading. :D
