Just how effective is this for someone to retrieve information ? Using a public internet connection is obvious, but how effective is this towards your home- work network ... if at all ? What kind of info can be retrieved by someone using this ? http://codebutler.com/firesheep?c=1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firesheep
In a reply on developer/s site someone posted this link ... Firesheep works by listening in on the said traffic going over unsecure Wi-Fi networks. It captures the information in the session cookie, allowing a hacker use it to access the websites visited. When a hacker signs into someoneâs vulnerable social network, email or online shopping accounts, he can use that personâs account to send out unauthorized posts or emails or make unauthorized purchases online. That is called sidejacking. http://www.spywarenews.org/2011/02/firesheep-the-hackers-new-best-friend/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... above clearly states an unsecured wifi network, but is there a possibility this can this be used against a secure wifi network ?
