Very interesting question, did some researching and found the following: FiOS (Fiber Optic Service) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verizon_FiOS http://www.verizon.com/fios http://www22.verizon.com/content/consumerfios/about+fiostv/about+fios.htm http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-fios.htm T1 (or T-1) carrier http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-carrier http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid7_gci213084,00.html FiOS Vs T1 http://t1rex.blogspot.com/2006/06/verizon-fios-finally-brings-fiber-to.html http://www.mraggarwal.com/2007/04/25/internet-speed-chart-cable-dsl-t1-t3-fios-etc/ http://forum.mac-headz.com/showthread.php?t=633 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=116799 http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r18941794-T1-vs-Optimum-Online-for-Business-vs-FIOS-for-Business http://www.vodawi.com/news/verizon-fios-or-copper.html FiOS is a new fast technology, speeds over 10 times faster than T1 and at same cost! A new thing coming. wow!! Anyone experienced this?
FIOS definitley faster, T1 will give you safety piece of mind. If retail FIOS down, you wait until fixed. T1, there are uptime requirements.
Is FiOS different from the fiber optics cable that is already existing now-a-days? It was there with copper cables but was expensive. Please clarify.
Whatever you get - FiOS, DSL, cable, or T1 - you may want to get the Business version rather than the Consumer version. Business versions come with Service Level Agreements that guarantee better than 99% uptime.Consumer DSL, for instance, can go down for half an hour in the middle of the day.
FYI: There is no difference between Comcast Home broadband service and their Business service. I've checked.
I trade via cablevision. The only thing that I added was boost (up to 30mbps), not sure that it is needed for it only costs $10 more per month. I have not outages, and I trade during early EST hours.
I have FIOS. It's light years ahead of anything else. I have had it for almost 2 years. If available, absolutely get it.
