Finding Trading Ranges -- Congestion Zones

Discussion in 'Technical Analysis' started by jmiles301, May 8, 2007.

  1. Is anyone familiar with a service/program that has the ability to screen for trading ranges? I am looking for something that has the ability to find relatively tight trading ranges based on a timeframe specified by the user (1 week, 2 week, 1 month, and so on). Anyone have any ideas in this area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Jon

what a good idea, perhaps you could partner with a programmer here to develop what you seek

  4. Ensign price histogram has POC (Point of Control) which is extremely customizable.
Here's a link to an Ensign article on POC...

  6. Get an analysis software like Tradestation, Metastock, Amibroker etc and learn how to use it. This will give you the flexibility to create your own custom scans, instead of having to use "canned scans" off the web

  7. Not sure this is what you're looking for....but at chart-ex.com they update the "volume @ price" levels for commodities daily. Once you get a handle on how to read their charts, the levels can give you a heads-up on S/R and/or ranges.
