Well, without checking for the depth or temperature, I'm going to jump right in here with my first posting in this what looks to be an interesting forum. (I found it via a Google search on 'GMAC SmartNotes forum' without quotes.)

My first stock purchases back in 1965 or so were Kimberly Clark and American Motors, picked because one brother worked at one and another at the other. [ Isn't that a typical strategy for newbies?! ;) ]

Eventually, after a few years of gains, losses, dozens of trades and reading the Wall Street Journal, I began seeing some names repeated over and over during the early 1970s - G. Heileman Brewing being the foremost among them. It turned out to be a good investment, although not as good as Microsoft which came upon the scene later to repeat the 'newsmaker' process during its development.

Right now, one of the few stocks that's still a small cap (anything under 250,000 shares a day is a small cap to me) and appears on a smart growth track is Raven Industries - RAVN. It appears twice in this forum before this third reference.

Anyone else out there have any others worth watching?
