%% Good question= NO not afalling in a walking sense, all the time. Better than that I not only believe in God, but the God of Israel; who ordered me to prove him with 10% tithe, + today +in Malachi 3 . And have proved that +today + Gods word on that. NOT the false god of muzzies Bill Gate is a hero of mine; but good thing for me I never waited as long + Bill + Melinda Gates Foundation to give. My way got brighter; my load got lighter R Taff /Set Me Free song > 9, 777,888 video views,,,. Partial diclosure IRS never uses phone to threaten ; IRS uses USa mail for that LOL
I am just saying God (whichever one is your favourite - since we are both MoTs our preference is the same there) is likely to be a scam and yet billions of people fall for it. Every president that I remember was a scammer (in the most obvious sense of that word), yet millions of people are willing to fight tooth and nail that “their” president is an honest man but the other is a liar and a cheater. Humans like to be fooled. It’s part of our nature. Best we can do is avoid being fooled too much
%% YES; i was shocked when the USa President '' read my lips no new taxes'' was big lie. BUT main points include a Jewish or Christian CPA who makes a livin' off helping pay low taxes.LOL And live in a one of the 7 states with NO state in come taxes. NOT all public servants -tax collectors are greedy crooks some are , greedy fro MORE taxes. Our state cut the tax on food OCT-JAN2024; we paid less tax + bought more food , which was what tax collectors wanted . I look for patterns anywhere; media is full of ''talkin=forked tongue stupid snakes'' patterns ; see Headline Here LOL
This scam has been all over the internet for ten years and tweens know about it. An educated financial journalist getting duped, unbelievable. I think Arthur Andersen had a blind eye for Bernie Ebbers, right?
The article she wrote about the scamming is even more unbelievable, and if real, makes me think she desperately needs a conservatorship! https://www.thecut.com/article/amazon-scam-call-ftc-arrest-warrants.html
actually, after reading this I am convinced that she made it all up - but, as the Irish say, "never let the truth to get in the way of a good story"
My comments, from postings after I started this thread: 1. If she made-up the story, then her problems --and likely consequences --will be far more severe, than just losing $ 50,000; --I agree she should be removed from giving financial advise, but she would likely just get a Gov't job (as former hackers) or a site / potcast for scammers, and/or how to prevent scamming; 2. I think the more familiar saying is: Look Around the Poker Table; If You Can’t See the Sucker, You’re It! 3. Re mankind liking to be fooled: This gets back to one of my favorite trading books:Black Swan: Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Taleb. As with randomness, man is not designed to easily recognize scams. 4. And this from IMO the best book on trading: Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" by Edwin Lefevre: [ A trader ] "has to fight a lot of expensive enemies within himself"
I consider myself a suspicious person but outwardly willing to give the benefit of the doubt. In my 20s I was pick pocketed not once but twice and almost a 3rd time. Each time I had been very suspicious of the person getting close to me, and yet. Some pick pockets are really good. Nowadays, it's becoming easier to scam people online. Websites look authentic, the hook is not aggressive, older people are more easily confused, the scammers are getting better. The best way we protect ourselves is by being very defensive and fearful, distrustful of anyone and anything we're told or see. Problem is, that's not a life to live. It reminds me of the reason gun owners carry a weapon, to fight off armed criminals and protect your family. In reality that gun has more chances of killing an innocent bystander, family or not, from mishandling the weapon or simply never using it for its intended purpose. We simply don't know how far we can get duped from those who have decided to get you.
How so? The whole story was made up from A to Z - it might be a violation of journalist ethics (if there is such a thing) but it's near impossible to prove that it's fake. Even then, she came up with a personal story that the readers can relate to, that's her job as a writer for an online magazine. This is not reporting on the news, but even there are no real consequences of making shit up or believing bad sources.
