I've got an old copy of Galbraith's The Age Of Uncertainty, and I highly recommend it. As a general history of the effects of economic policy goes, it's fabulous. He's got a lot of great anecdotes in his books as well -- his Wikipedia bio skims over his accomplishments, but hardly does him justice.
I"m a fan. When interviewed on television about what he thought about Ronald Reagan, he replied, "Reagan and his cronies have stolen the treasury of the United States". Wonder what he would say about dumb ya.
"drinking scotch at nearly it's maximum effective strength" "the effect of alcohol on different races.......... the Scotch always become militant"
