    Hello Steve,
I noticed you asked about trading with CCI and M/A .
Woodies used a 35EMA for directional purposes which evolved into the CZI indicator.
But if you insert a 14ema on the price action and use it as an entry signal on a retrace of a long or short directional move
it gives fair entry price during the movement.
It will complement valid Woodies signals although not part of the woodie doctrine
Moving Average disciplines are well discussed in Alex Elders Book Trading for a Living

I would like to thank everyone for checking out my thread. I am suprised by the lack of constructive input. the caliber of posts reinforces my belief that there is a specific reason why %95 of traders fail...

The reason traders fail, is they grasp at things that do not work. CCI has never tested out as having any longterm value over multiple years over multiple instruements. Can you demonstrate Woodie's long-term track record, independently monitored? Of course not. Woodie knows it doesn't really work. He just likes to be popular.

I will give you a hint. Go to this charting site (owned by barcharts.com):

    http://freecharts.com/Commodities.aspx?page=perform&sym=SPH8

This is the March 08 S&P futures contract. look at and then click on the 40 day CCI and 60 day CCI. Notice that since May/June 06, between the two of them, they lost about $27,000 ? This is real use of classical CCIs, in a real market.

Woodie has nothing magical up his sleeve.

Let the TA lovers start whining. They do not like anyone to show that TA does NOT work. After all, why should we use hard, testable numbers when we can believe in the magic of "I know someone who it works for" Also notice, that most of the other TA indicators also lose money???

  6. If it was, CCI would never diverge, and as you probably know, it does.

You missed my point. Just put up a chart with 14 CCI, them choose price bars into line. You will see what I mean, but saying CCI resembles price action.

  8. I just don't understand why you need something that resembles price action.

What's wrong with price action itself ?

The way Woodie structured cci with 6 bars above/below zero line defining up or down trend, it becomes easier to interpret price action.

I spent enough screen time to make decisions just by looking at price action, but find it a bit harder to interpret it by itself, and thus utilize cci.

  10. Red,

    Thank you for your reply.

If you got any screenshots where CCI enhances the interpretation of price action I would love to see them.
