My dad was a cop until I was a few years old so I have a definite pro-law enforcement bias. I was also a hard partying obnoxious trader so I've had my share of run-in's too. Being Chicago though I've recieved some breaks that were over the top. On balance the couple of times that a cop has given me a hard time are far outweighed from the handful of incidents that should have resulted in my arrest. Once after about 15 beers I was stopped and the police were more into admiring my vintage Eldorado than my condition. In fact twice I've had cops ask me if they could escort me home. Ah, the Chicago Way. The funniest cop abuse story I've been involved with was when this hot-shot yuppie local from the Bond pit was driving me home. We were downtown like at Adams and Dearborn and a cop working traffic detail told us we had to drive around the block. Some sort of backup I suppose. When we got clear my friend flips the cop off. Well that foot cop caught up with us about a block later, reached in the car and grabbed my friends middle finger! The cop was bending it and saying through clenched teeth, "that finger isn't so brave now, huh?" I was laughing hilariously. Street justice.....
