Few notes on AMP Global

I have no direct interest in defending AMP, but If I were a new trader I could be now a bit scared in considering AMP for my trading, and I think this could lead to miss an opportunity, because, BTW and IMHO, AMP is one of the few serious brokers to be friendly even with new traders with small accounts.

I have been trading with them from years now, and to be fair, it is true that sometime the support for platform and software issues could be better, and the live chat can put you on hold on these issues (I now think it is better to use email), BUT it is another story if you need urgent help for real trading issues.

For example, I had twice, in the past weeks, a sudden disconnection for hardware/software troubles at my end.

I have in place my own procedures for these eveniences (and, trading from EU, I find unvaluable that with AMP and Multicharts I have server sided bracket orders), but anyway I had open positions at the crash moment, and orders status was dubious even with balances OK.

For my peace of mind I asked by chat to check my account, and if not flat, to close all at market ( I do not want to gamble if something is wrong and I am already emotionally stressed).

I got both times attention and immediate, written response in a matter of seconds, for me even faster if I had used the phone: this is what really count for me in customer service.

I want to confirm that in my experience wire in operations are without fees, and never had an unjustificated funds cut.

I could add that it is very convenient, for EU traders (and I do not know other brokers allowing that other than AMP), using the path of wiring euro to Barclay by SEPA wire: you can send money in the evening too, and have it into your account the day after, usually before market open.

Just to correct any misunderstandings regarding fees:
AMP EU - charges fees on transfers in and out. [Tested in/out roundtrip cost:4%]
AMP US - does not charge fees on transfers in [Tested, 0%]. Haven't tested out.

So if you're in EU, it's much better to open an account with AMP US, instead of AMP EU.

thx for that..will check and resolve if required..for now not an issue as still in the final steps of resuming what i call "more frequent" trading..so no cash lodged with AMP yet and still with IB

AMP US obviously have a lot more to offer in the way of platform choice..but after testing most of them.. fairly thoroughly..i have decided to run with MT5..for several reasons..but the main one being simplicity..nice visual charts..and standard windows package appearance.

the major drawback i find with MT5 right now is the DOM trading screen..it needs a few basic improvements to make it effective..the developers obviously don't trade..if they did they would know immediately the shortcomings..maybe AMP here can push to get them done..after all.. it's a business..and the customer has to be satisfied.. especially when use of the product involves risking money

overall..i am very happy with AMP Global..in fact..i would recommend it highly..if the 4% fees become an issue then i will look at AMP US..as i have the choice of either..but as AMP Global fees are the cheapest at $0.37 per side..and the plan is to execute many trades per session..then the maths will quickly show the best route

we need to remember Murphy's Law at all times..so..be always prepared for the worst..and never..again..never..ever..overtrade..it is the biggest mistake a trader can..and most do..make..including yours truly..which i can now happily say i have outgrown

i have to say..that any enquiries i had when testing the majority of platforms that AMP US offers..i had no issues with the support received from AMP..i found that the staff replied to my emails in a timely manner..and with adequate knowledge in relation to my queries
