How do you feel market rhythms in front of the screen? I donot mean technical indicators, at least not those sophisticated ones. I know many floor traders see the motion of order runners as an indication. An trader wrote in a book (I cannot remember what title) that he listened to the sound of the mechanical quote system as indication of fast or slow trading activities.

What do you feel as an off-floor trader? I know when the market is busy, my quote screen flashes like crazy. And when there is almost nothing going on, the screen flashes smoothly. But when I see and feel this, it is probably too late. Do you have any advance indicators?

    Thanks.

Get the e-mini book (lack of a better word) so you can see the speed and size of bids/offers/trades.

NASDAQ 100 related stocks and options mostly. Sometimes DOW 30.

What is a market maker ticker? Where can I get it? Thanks.

But I doubt any current quotes (price/volume) will reveal all aspects of market activities that floor traders can feel. Any quote depends on the interval that the quote vendors send them out. Since that interval always varies you will have less direct and quite likely distorted feelings.
