It was "working" in 2006-07 as well, as a response to the dot.com crash...until it wasn't working a few short months later. The problem with this ideology is that every unconventional approach is "justified" by the imagined worse case scenario.
I see 2003-2008 related to 2008-2012 as cause and effect rather than being equatable. Just a different viewpoint.
