  1. Dearest Brother Hitman,

    Some excellent opening trades today...

With best wishes, particularly in view of the fact that the Chinese Brethren are celebrating their New Year,

The frustration continues as I failed to continue my streak. I had a light flu today and I had a very bad trade off the open. Should have folded it when I was up around 10:45 or so but I kept on playing and ended the game around my morning low's. A weak body definitely weakened my mind today.

23400 shares each way on 7 of 18 shooting, -26 before commissions, -594 after, 1 bullet (killed me). Up $50 for the week, $1450 for the pay period.

Survival is the key here. This market won't get better any time soon, and it is very important to score big on good days that pop up every once in a while, and whenever I catch a big sector move (like yesterday's auto part move, or Monday's chemical/energy run), I need to score big.

Consistency has been my greatest asset, it simply has not been there this year. I have lost too many games and it is hard to build a large profit margin that way.

Pre-Market: Bullish on RLX/Auto Parts based on daily's, looked for a follow through on energy stocks.

9:30: Tried TGT and it was choppy as hell today and I gave up commissions in him. Took some RSH and lost 10 cents.

9:38: Bulleted DNA at 49.26 on BTK sell-off and the thing squeezed 50 cents on me, thankfully I covered half of my 1000 shares just in time. I was bullish on auto parts and when I saw LEA gapping down I went long. Way too careless there, the stock had news and I should have waited. Lost 40 cents on 400 shares and churned a lot of him today. Ended up being my second worst trade of the day.

9:50: Energy ran-up and I took SGY for 50 cents, unfortunately I got just 400 shares filled. Got a quarter off EP. Caught BWA / ETN at the bottom, out of ETN for flat and BWA for 30 cents profit and missed a big move. Scored half a point on COF on financial rally. I was in the black for the day, and I was thinking follow through on futures as Dow was above 10K level.

10:40: Jumped into JCI at 85.10 with just 200 shares, it consolidated and I bought 200 more, the thing collapse so fast before I could get out and I lost half a point in that thing. Of course my exit was the bottom. Tried EMR on futures strength and out for flat.

11:30: Thought RLX had another leg and went long CC, lost 10 cents but with 1000 shares it hurted. Scored 20 cents off PPG on chemical squeeze. Broke even in DD/ROH. Tried CRA on BTK rally and out for flat.

2:00: Market sell-off, BTK went down 3% and I bulleted away on DNA, he would not break. Any time a stock screws you in the morning better leave him alone in the afternoon. I totally misjudged the strength of that stock in the morning and I did just that in the afternoon. I churned and churned and I gave up too many 2-3 cents spreads (ended up losing $500 in this one stock).

3:00: Bulleted FDX and it went no where and I tapped out in frustration as DNA squeezed me into the closing seconds.

Ugly game but I was not at my best today, overcame a nasty flu and made sure that I suffered no back-to-back losses this first pay period.

9 of 22 shooting on 15900 shares each way, +558 before commissions, +77 after, 2 bullets. Finished first pay period with $1500, not the way I want to begin the month, as I will only be playing 7 games next pay period, with 18th being a holiday, and 19th being the Tony Oz show. I rarely take games off, but I am doing this for Tony as I have been dying to see him in action, real time, real money, in this choppy market. Anyone with the confidence to trade in front of two hundred something people has to know what he is doing, and I will have a full report on the New York Trading Expo, from the Worldco booth.

Pre-Market: Very positive news on HAL made me think energy strength.

9:30: Had NE, GSF, SGY, HP, tiny positions, at various points during the first 10 minutes. When HAL opened up 3 points the index poped for almost a full percent. Then HAL tanked and everything came in, I lost a combined $200 on those as I went very light, thinking it could have been a trap.

9:42: Amazing chemical rally saved my bacon in the morning. Got 30 cents from EMN, APD, PX, 10 cents from FMC, but I went very light as the futures was tanking.

9:50: Energy started to reverse, bulleted BR and could not get my bullet cost back. Thankfully I broke even on him. Entire market sold off and I bulleted CCU, he squeezed the hell out of me and fortunately I got him in the afternoon and lost just bullet commissions and bullet cost. Tried MO and RJR on TOB strength and out of both for flat.

11:00: Got a quarter pop on DO and lost 5 cents on VTS.

2:00: Caught CRA on BTK rally for 15 cents squeeze. Tried WAT/PKI and got 5 cents each. Got the nice afternoon leg on CCU of course and shorted APD on chemical top but it went nowhere and I got just 7 cents out.

Lately I have been doing smaller size but trying to force myself to hold through little wiggles. If I think the overall direction is solid, I will try my best to hold and not look as long as my mental stop is not violated (and yes I have been giving stocks a little more wiggle room than before).

Can't wait for the Tony Oz show! I am very tired and I need this four day break.

  8. ... and ...

Hey Hitman -- I've been reading your daily journals over the past few months, and was curious how much you pay on commissions. What do you pay on the stocks, and how much for the bullets?

Just paging through a bit of it, it seems that often your best profits are on days with lower commissions. Do you find that is true?

You mention Tony Oz. Have you done any statistics on your trade history? Percentage of winners and losers. Average size win and average size loss. Banded wins/losses (i.e., # of wins or losses in various price ranges... say, $0-$50, $50-100, $100-$250, $250-$500, or whatever bands work for you).?

Anyway, keep us posted on Tony's thing, and hope you're feeling better.
