But you don't object to the "retard" part?! hehe sorry, only joking :D
Don't take me seriously, I probably did go a little off piste there..

Switching tact (and attempting to get the thread back on track), I notice that you only selected oldtime in your list. Any others you'd like to add?

What would be more interesting is to state WHY the particular poster is one's fav. As I said, even though emg is an idiot, you can make money following his calls...

  3. The funny thing about trading is if the Bhutan kid was really talented his 10k would quickly grow.....just like any other talented person--- wealth is a direct result of success in this game -- shouldn't matter what you start with. surf

There were/are some very interesting and talented people on this forum. I knew more some years back when I was more active, then I blew up and went away for a few years...now I'm starting to get my mojo back.

I just learned that riskarb became atticus. I thought the writing and greek fluency looked familiar!

There are other guys that I also met in the industry that were legit players and seriously good. Some I met there and learned that they posted here occasionally, others I met here and then met a few in person over the years. Some of these guys successfully managed serious money - and you'd never know it from reading their posts. They were just low key.

It's pretty easy to follow someone for a while and figure out whether they have it together or not. The biggest difference that I see between ET today and 7-8 years ago is that there's just fewer people. This is still a great resource for all sorts of questions at every level of the game.

  5. i was trying to offend you.. haha jk..
oldtime reminds me of myself.. sometimes he talks someone sanely as if he has a strategy.. then he might talk of as if he wants to go on a suicidal dart throwing contest with his book and himself.. yet he's just sharing his feelings :) or not haha he keeps you guessing..

  6. i literally hate when people give you the impression that being under capitalized makes it impossible to make money.. as if more money to lose will help.
or when people put to much weight on paper trading.. i think about it like running on a treadmill as compared to running through a mountainous woody trail with the potential to run off cliffs. the pain of loss seems to refine..

  7. Life isn't a straight line. I know a guy who traded a futures account from $200k to $30MM in 6 years. He bought homes on Fisher Island, Monaco; blew the rest on a solar start-up. Sold the props and sunk the money in the failing biz.

He "found" a numbered account with $500k and funded a futures account in which he traded CL and cracks. He made another $30MM. No more start-ups.

Was he (or the Bhutan kid) a loser when he was busted? Was Kovner when he was driving a cab?

  9. You are absolutely correct. Well stated.

This business is full of sharks, even the nicest, low key guys can turn vicious when there's big money involved------ I know this is unrelated, but for some reason your post reminded me.
