no I don't, but thanks for the rec. when Gillis/Watson get going they're like nobody else. You know Gillis was hired by ozzy in the mid-1980s and did a tour with Ozzy. They recorded a live album, I forget the name now. I had the pleasure of meeting both those guys back a few years ago. Great guys and very friendly. Another name that comes to mind now (I haven't thought about this stuff for years) is Al Dimeola. He had a song Racing with the Devil or Playing with the Devil: really awesome stuff. Maybe you know about it. blackguard
I see we're commenting on a lot of the speed stuff now, but speed doesn't necessarily make a great solo. I want to bring up the guy that said 'Since I've been Loving You' by Page. That solo was awesome too. I distinctly remember the live one he did on the Led Zep video movie of Zep at MSG. Awesome. Speed Kills. That's what they say and that's probably why all those hair bands burned out so quick. blackguard
solo: The Fly by U2 riff: In The Evening by Led Zep Ray Buchanan put out some great blues for those that have not listened.
I wanted to put out Ray Buchanan for the uninitiated. Glancing through the thread, it appears there are duplicate solo picks. You can have the lock on The Fly if you want. I'll go with Stairway to Heaven
another good solo has come to mind. the one in "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour ..actually, there's a little solo around 1:35 ..but i'm talkin about the one starting around 3:00 ..and my fav part of the solo is at 3:25 ..from there on IT TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!! it has to be like completely 100% totally coming from right out his subconscious.. lol
not really a solo as in what's being discussed here ..but i love all guitar, lead and rhythm, in the first 1:30 of "Cemetery Gates" by Pantera RIP Dimebag Darrell (murdered by a "fan" live on stage)
