You guys have mentioned some of my favorites. I love Randy Rhoads, the Scorps, Satrianni and a lot more. But there is one that I haven't seen on here yet. Anybody ever listen to Michael Schenker? Lights Outs In London by UFO had a great solo. Or when he went out on his own with MSG how about Captain Nemo? Man this guys list of magical solos is just too long for me to list. 4re
1)Im an expert on this subject........ 2) a good solo is not who or what, but how they dis- conected from our reality and find a higher power to give them their inspiration. 3)ones that I remember in this context: poison -something to believe in ratt your in love iron maiden hallowed be thy name (among others) ted nugent- stranglehold bottom line, anyone can solo, its a matter of getting a perfect solo down within 30 second of a top song is what counts think about it blackguard

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover. If you haven't heard his live version from Austin City Limits, prior to the release of Ah Via Musicom, check it out on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0Sm-14F7cI&search=eric johnson cliffs of dover
It may not be a pure solo, but it would be hard to convince Allen Collins that anyone else was on the stage, and IMHO it is THE greatest guitar song ever conceived..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZN4fBC2s00&search=lynyrd skynyrd
