I've read quite a bit of the earlier posts and it seems that IB seems to win the award for the direct access broker with the fastest execution. I was curious as to if this was still the case now that they are routing some orders to the market maker Timber Hill. I am looking for the direct access broker with the best executions and was hoping you might be able to shed some light as to which broker would be the best for that requirement. If you could let me know I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, S. Williams
Trade mostly futures with IB. No problems with execution... Sounds like your trading equities. Timber Hill will take the other side but you can also route your order. never had any serious execution problems during primary u.s. hours.
williams, just to point out any orders routed to timber hill are executed instantly and electronically. IB only routes to TMBR when it can meet or better the NBBO (national best bid or offer). Listed stocks that route to TMBR are turned around in a matter of milli-seconds as opposed to potential delays from the NYSE specialist of 30+ seconds. If anything, the TMBR route is an advantage for someone demanding speed.
For those of us contemplating trading listed, can you explain the difference between TMBR and Direct + (NX)? Thank you.
Generic Trading just luanched a new platform called CTS. I have been using it now for about 2 months and I absolutely love it. Its very fast and has so many great features like sitting up basket and group trades.
