  1. Yes the exact same type of schedule a democrat president would have......same product, different packaging (for those dumb enough to buy either one).

Khruschchev assured he would 'bury us'. Nothing happened.

Mao, according to your definition, was borderline psychotic - certifiably megalomaniacal. Nada.

There are trade offs to every option. A nuclear armed world would stop Americas war machine in its tracks.

The flip side - more nucs available = more likely someone will use them.

    Both options aren't palatable. True.

But history has shown the principle of MAD is far more effective at keeping the peace than war itself.

  3. Fortunately, in the US, we don't buy our Presidents, we only rent them. Can't wait for the lease to be up on it current one.

  4. good points, but on the other hand, MAD concept breeds complacency and a reliance on the fact that no one will actually use them. In other words, the 'peaceful' effects of fear from use of nuclear arms are short lived.

Every so often, some one will have to use them to show they mean business. Otherwise, empty threats breed responses likewise.

  7. short yen against USD.
went long a tiny bit of gold, although its not reacting to this (perhaps people don't think its a safe haven anymore).

may consider short ewj and ewy etf's tommorow. short ES as well (to hedge possible losses coming up) - it seems to want to sell, and this isn't the greatest news for a booming market.

also short FXI etf from Friday.

too bad my IB account can't do KRW shorts and nikkei futures don't trade real time.

Only in the context of minor skirmishes, for instance, border disputes (India-Pakistan).

MAD scuttles any full frontal attack initiated by any country. And thats the important part.

Who's going to play nuclear brinkmanship??
