1. How about Cramer himself. Didn't he claim to account for a high percentage of option volume at one time?

As a player, Dykstra had a knack for being hit by the pitch.
He brought that talent to option trading :)

  3. Anyone on this thread actually know any of the heavy hitters in the options world? All the names I'm seeing are TV personalities or seminar-selling charlatans... Must be someone here who actually knows what time it is...

interactive brokers is the heavy hitter as options market makers and a few hedge funds who work the stocks and options game and control like 30% of intra-day options volume in the US market from I was told. stock Options market only has like 1-3 bilion in bets or open interest or what you call money on the table.

$1-$3 billion is the total size of the size of the options market.

the heavy hitters are a group or firm not one individual.

  8. I question $1-3B. I think that's off by a factor of 10 or more. AAPL's July 320-strike "straddle OI" represents over $100MM in premium alone. That's just in July 2011 on the largest $OI shares (non ETF).

    net options value.

these option traders usually have offsetting calls and puts and very little money is on the table and the volume is in the front months.

you can ask the option dealers market makers assocation they have the stats

  10. That's one strike in one stock and one expiration cycle. Your $3B is silly.
