Philly had a guy named Dr. J and Mo Cheeks when Barkley started. Phoenix had what was considered the next Magic Johnson in Kevin Johnson. I have no problem with Manning on that list, after all, he has won a Super Bowl. Go ahead, pick another shooting guard who never won an NBA title over MJ. Ewing was in the league when MJ retired, great individual player, zero rings. I'll take Hakeem over Ewing. In nearly every case, I'll take a winner of a Championship over his counterpart who didn't win. Barkley, Ewing, Bob Lanier, Maravich, Dominique, etc. None could lead their team to a title. Let's see, Isiah Thomas, or Jason Kidd... Game 7 of the finals, Walt Frazier or Steve Nash... Bernard King or Jerry West...
Parrish and McHale are on the 50 list because they played next to Bird, not the other way around. Without him they were decent players, nothing more.
didt say one thing about team player...we both know that...just said he is perhaps the best offensive player we have seen in our lifetime....you wanna argue that??
i might have to disagree...imagine what marino could have done with a running game...lets not forget that the defense was well aware that marino's only choice was to pass and yet that mother fucker still got it in there....but i do agree that it would have taken alot away from his stats...
He certainly is among the most offensive players ever... Bonds has great numbers, but where it matters, i.e. rings, he is a big fat zero...
ONE PLAYED SHOOTING G. THE OTHER PLAYED SMALL FORWARD... here's one...Ted Williams or Reggie Jackson? Ernie Banks or Derek Jeter? Dan Marino....or Phil Simms/ Troy aikman/ Brett Frarve? Chad Pennington or Joe Montanna? ( sorry, I have jet football on the mind)
