Maybe you should understand the entire context of the study. Including the the following from the lead author:

Vaccination is the safest way to acquire immunity, whereas acquiring natural immunity must be weighed against the risks of severe illness and death associated with the initial infection,” Dr. Stephen Lim, lead study author and a professor at the University of Washington’s Department of Health Metrics Sciences, said in a statement.

Note the study by University of Washington researchers published Feb. 16 in the peer-reviewed journal The Lancet is a meta-analysis of 65 studies from 19 countries; not an original study. Meta-analysis studies have been demonstrated to have issues if any of the underlying studies are either biased, faked, or incorrect. The results of this study shows that you have increased from protection from Covid due to "natural immunity" after catching Covid for a period of time -- which is hardly surprising. However vaccination is still a much safer option.

Catching COVID gives you ‘durable’ protection from virus, study finds. For how long?

    Facts are the facts.

Do you disagree with the direct quote from the lead author of the study?

    Explain to us why?

It's amazing how many people on a trading forum don't understand base rate fallacy and basic math.

Let's walk through an example for illustration in a highly vaccinated population.

Let's say there are 100 people over age 65 in a country. 87 of them are vaccinated and 13 of them are unvaccinated. 9 of the vaccinated die from Covid. 3 of the unvaccinated die from Covid.

OMG the anti-vaxxers will scream -- there 3X more deaths of vaccinated people than unvaccinated people.

The reality is that you have to look at death rate. The death rate among the unvaccinated is 3 / 13 -- that is 23% of the unvaccinated died of Covid in this example. The death rate among the vaccinated is 9 / 87 -- that is 10.3% of the elderly vaccinated died of Covid in this example.

To those who can do simple math -- it is obvious that a death rate of 23% is much higher than a death rate of 10.3%. This shows the effectiveness of vaccination in protecting a at-risk population compared to being unvaccinated.
