It's a little too late for Calhoun to make that call; he's about to see what the downside is on all that self absorbed bs. Glad to see his wife wised up and is protecting her interests. For those giving him advice you'd be better off to tell him to stop being an asshole and be more honest. Appreciate others for who they are not what you can get out of them. I doubt he has it in him though. Ka Ching Ka Ching
Probably gonna get the 50/50 split on marital property acquired during marriage. Alimony - GL with that. Seems like it is based on length of marriage, amount of property/assets she has, current standard of living, and her income and education level. And probably if the judge is female or not. Maybe she'll just leave for Japan. Who knows... Good luck.
Yeah it Suckz... plus the government requires me to support her, had to sign i864 to be able for her to get greencard. Like Eddie Murphy said, "half!" wtf
I won't go into the weeds but will just point out that you only have to be a resident of Nevada for six weeks to file divorce there and Nevada is a community property state so you know that the worse you can get is a 50/50 split of everything. Whereas Colorado is an "equity state" meaning that the judge can- in the end- adjust the settlement to whatever the judge thinks is equitable (including alimony, etc.) I just throw that out. You might want to talk to a NV attorney too to see if there is an advantage for you. Your Colorado attorney will not talk to you about any advantages there because he wants your business in Colorado. Just sayin. You have to watch out for your wife knifing you, but your attorney as well. Gets tricky if you have already filed in Colorado. You can withdraw your filing but if you have filed and she has responded and counterclaimed it is hard to get out since she technically has her own filing going then. It gets convoluted. Do your thinking upfront.
Best plan - If you do all your business through a company LLc, LP. etc..... DON'T pay yourself any salary. Give yourself loans with a 99 yr balloon payment. If you want your kids to inherit, Take out a life insurance policy, that the company pays for, that will repay the loan. On paper, you'll have nothing, even though you're living well ( hopefully ). But you'll have huge debts. If she divorces you, she gets half the debt, and nothing from you, cuz you have no income. Or do like that soccer player did - he gets payed into an LLC that his mom (or lawyer ) owns and he goes to her whenever he needs anything. His wife had no idea that this is how it was structured and is getting nothing, except kicked to the curb. Although, it seems too late for you.....
just be careful and watch what you say or text. She may try and record you or initiate an argument to where she calls the police and claims she is afraid of you. Just be careful my friend. Women get irrational. Is she hispanic by any chance?
