Extremely annoying

  1. I've been having troubles with IBKR for two weeks. The administration did not respond to any requests yet. Still waiting...

    I have an IB account and I never had any issue to log in.
    If I recall, the two factor identification was not easy to setup, but this is a must have. For this to work properly for me, I have to open first the IB app on my android phone, then try to login on IB account management, and then validate from my phone.

    Also, if you still have access to TWS, you could try to access to your account from the trading platform.

    I am able to do a Portal Login on PC if I do the Authentication Challenge procedure, which is a hassle.

    Interestingly, after I tried first to totally quit the IBKR app (not just exit it) on my iPhone (removed app from memory, need to first double tap the iPhone "home" button, then swipe away IBKR). IBKR then when I tried the PC Portal Login normally started up and did the normal easy authentication. However later Portal Logins did not work. Maybe it is a bug in the IBKR app,

    I am installing latest iPhone iOS 14.3 and will try that later, in case that fixes it. Also, it might be a firewall problem, or maybe something related to my cellphone wireless service company, IB notes say the Portal Login with phone authentication might fail if there is something wrong with the wireless connection. I normally have cellular data turned off and use Wi-Fi data on my phone, maybe that's a problem.

    I will try contacting IB if problem persists after the phone iOS update.

    OK I have update my iPhone to latest iOS 14.3, it seems to work same as before.

    I found that if I do a "force quit" of the IBKR phone app (as described in my previous post) before trying the PC Portal Login, the Login works normally. However if I then do some work (look at reports etc) with the Portal and then logout, and then try another PC Portal Login, authentication gets hung and I need to either give up or do the manual authentication challenge procedure.

    So I am thinking it is a bug in the IBKR phone app. I'm running the latest version from about Dec 1 2020. That is about the time when I first had the authentication problem with PC Portal Login. I will do more tests and contact IB.

    The PC Portal login problem now seems to be solved for me too, starting this morning. For some reason it was not working all yesterday when it was working for korifey. I guess IB fixed something on their end.
