Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of ET

  1. Jack has taken poor Bearbelly to the woodshed for being the first of the faithful to say he can't sweep that much shit and make any sense of it. Now let's not fault pauvre BB for the sin of demonstrably being of average intellect (so, apparently, are we ALL relative to Jack). He's giving it the old high school try. I will confine myself to this one observation: Jack made his best ever mal-orthography with the word "syllibus". Just about suffered a solid fart at that one.

  2. Hi Arthur,

Do you have any comments on their use of STR/SQU -- on the 2 min. YM, in order to guess what will happen on the 5 min. ES.

don't read too much into it, the bottom line, bear is already making 'real' money with the method and jack is at his usual good-but-you-can-do-better self.

  4. 225, if I understand it correctly the hINDU-ESe stretch/squeeze has to do with observing temporary maxima in the value of the cash/fut premium. I haven't bothered to look at it recently because I just can't seem to do the work and get past charnels. From years ago my recollection is that Jack used the INDU rather than SPX because it's updated every two seconds. Anyway, Spydie loves to correct me, so we'll let him state it right. They always say "go here" referring to a ten year old thread with one million posts. "Do the work!"

Anyway, I am a NQer (pronounced "n-queer"), so I will comment onlyh on my experience with that. Since NDX is only updated once each 15 seconds, I constructed a synthetic NDX using the top ten components, about all that my feed and computer at the time could handle. I calculated the exact premium every 15 seconds and put a predictor on it for the data lacunae. Then I added the predicted premium to the synthetic index to get what NQ "should" be, and plotted NQ on top of that. A lot of work for nothing. Sure, I could see stretch/squeeze, but it wasn't predictive of turns. All it told you (duh) was LO makers are fucking MO traders with extreme fills at tops and bottoms. No threshold tests ever succeeded in predicting "the" turn, the "Holy Grable", the one with the long legs.

I could have spent all that time better stretching and squeezing my dick.

  5. Thanks for the update, Nkhoi, I don't read that thread much any more. It long since went WAAAAAY past my limited capabilities at my age. Jack must have thought all that shit up when he was younger.

  6. Ugh! I just slogged through the past four days of Spydie's SCT thread. I couldn't read any further back. I reiterate: FTT means "failure to trade". Or at least failure to post any execution reports there. What meagre documentation of real money they have on the line is posted elsewhere. Congrats to Dougcs for a winning trade. MephistoII is hanging in there, not rich yet. Dkm recently said he is not yet consistently profitable. Bearbelly earns periodic trips to the woodshed with Jack (IMO Jack is a closet sadist). Based on that sample, one wonders if most of that crowd are masochists and LIKE to lose.

As a public service, I am offering free therapy here to any beginning SCT traders who need it. In two categories. First, if you want to discuss trading psych independent of method, I am here for you. Second, if you want to discuss specific trades, I'm game. That means independent chart analysis only of REAL TRADES, backed up by an execution report. I'm not into speculative bullshit. I trade all day every day, and learned over the years that only REAL trading reinforces good habits and discourages bad ones.

  8. Thank you for that, Allaces. Maybe that could be the B-Team's new motto: HTFU!

Can't draw and redraw channels, monitor price in relation to them, crayola volume, watch YM on a fast frottale at the same time, and capture that fleeting str/squ with split second timing all at once? HTFU!

Can't start trading after four months of paper practice? HTFU!

Can't separate the bad advice wannabees give from the good advice Spydie gives? HTFU!

Don't understand the difference between Jack's SCT (Eastern Orthodox), Spydie's SCT (Roman Catholicism) and Nkhoi's SCT (Lutheranism)? HTFU!

A little confused by SCTs mushy "being wrong" and the CO's "hard stops"? HTFU!

Actually trading SCT, but don't understand why your trading doesn't get better the more SCT methods you add? HTFU!

Wondering why you are following a system developed by a man who can't spell, can't write, and spends hours daily posting (including RMH) when he should be trading or coding and testing? HTFU!

  10. Thank you for correcting the oversight, Nkhoi. I will have to compare notes with Dr. Kraepelin more often. But I cannot give up without a cavil. Wasn't Steve Tvardek profitable trading stocks before he got religion? And if so, doesn't that make him guilty of practicing the CO, and even worse, successfully, and therefore suspect? And what about me? I trade futures with reasonable expectation, but sans SCT. Would I do better if I were smart enough to understand SCT?
