extent of firm cuts

  1. Is part time employment captured by Average Weekly Hours, but not by the headline Unemployment rate?

    Part time work doesn't get captured in Initial Claims that much is for certain.

    it depends. if you have a part time job they will not let you sign on unless it is less that about £180 a month. in which case for every £1 you earn they subtract it from your benefit payment. it is not a good incentive for people with low benefit to work part time. (the £180 assumes minimum jsa).

    the employment figures are misleading look at incapacity. they urge people to go onto it to make the unemployment figures seem less bad.
