Not really. This has nothing to do with capital, or getting US investor rich or poor. This is politics only.

Since Trump/Biden wants to keep American data under US control, China wants to keep everything of Chinese under China control. I saw this coming a long time ago ever since Trump decided to take on Huawei, TicTok and WeChat.

I see China will decide to phase out the network equipment made by Cisco, Netgear, Nortel etc. Some of the European countries like UK and Sweden removed Huawei equipment. I see China will retaliate to rid of Nokia and Ericsson equipment.

It is just cold wall. China will develop its own semi conductor and other high tech industries and become self reliance. It won't allow Huawei scenario happen again...

No, this is against US principles and this is where Biden and the West have been criticizing China about. This was also what Trump tried and failed.

You go to see the background of all US high tech companies. Most of the tech people have foreign background. Without the immigrants, US would certainly decline. How many American kids want to learn science and engineering? How many are good at it?

I see that but how much data does one get to see by becoming like not even 1% of a ride-sharing company really? And they are all of sudden concerned about data security, they are about 25 years too late. Didi has been partly owned by Uber, an American company since 1996 so if US's really into collecting user data of Chinese citizens, it's already collected plenty. LOL And they start to raise a stint now? LOL

And besides if it's a data security or privacy concern, China has much more information on US citizens' data vs the other way around. Remember the Equifax hack by the four Chinese PLA hackers? https://www.wired.com/story/equifax-hack-china/ And if you own a Xiaomi robotic vacuum cleaner which is one of the most popular brands of robotic vacuum cleaner, according to this Kaspersky article, https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/xiaomi-mi-robot-hacked/14341/, everything about your name, your house, your house's size, floorplan, your modem, your username and password to the modem, your IP, MAC address are uploaded to the Xiaomi server, several megabytes per day every day as long as it is connected to its cloud server. And these data are persistently stored on their server even if you do a factory reset. That is the intimate information of every American household as long as they owned a Xiaomi. Kaspersky engineers who have hacked the Xiaomi have actually presented their findings in a Youtube video as well.

So data security is really not a concern of the Chinese gov't especially when they are the ones that is ahead in this game. Their biggest concern is $$'s. $$'s what's allowing them to achieve what they want to achieve. This is why Xi is angry about de-coupling. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/x...u-s-to-decouple-from-chinese-tech-01625607993. Their whole economy is about exporting s*** to the world. And their next step is really to penetrate our financial market, the only market that we still have some advantage over for capital accumulation and achieve capital liquidity and yet the paranoid Chinese CCP wants to stop that. LOL To me, it's good riddance! This is a good thing. Honestly this will help us preserve our investment funds to invest and cultivate our own local companies to produce innovative products and services, and then to help them export their products/services to the rest of the world. It's time to establish both stable supply chains and client base with countries that are willing to share and support our values and beliefs and grow with us in a healthy and sustainable way.

Most of those personnel working in those high tech companies are not immigrants fresh off the boat; they are 2nd, 3rd or even 4th generation "immigrants"; they are Americans!! The only difference is because they are not white so people still don't recognize them as Americans. That's the problem. LOL Bottom Line: America and the West do not need more people. It needs technology and robotics. Immigration, just like everything, only works when the cost of bringing in immigrants/refugees/migrants and cultivating them into positive and productive and loyal citizens is smaller than the benefit that these immigrants will bring to the country through the contribution that they will make to the adopting country. So far it's been the case and that's why US has been prosperous relatively but now the cost and benefit is changing and we must adapt. There is nothing "principle" about it. Policies are not written in stone. It's made up by people for better survival. That's it.

And China wants to be the world leader? Let it. But being a world leader carries responsibilities and sacrifices. The first is taking in refugees. China is now the 2nd largest economy in the world so it should get the second largest allotment in refugees. And all of the immigrants and economic migrants that US and Europe have been getting, they should all be diverted to China. We should stop criticizing China and advertise China more as the paradise. LOL

Same argument goes with Trump's ban on TikTok and Wechat. People have been using Wechat for so many years. Why Trump suddenly worried about protecting American's personal chat with family? Some kido's 2 minute dancing video poses "national security"?

Why this has anything with CCP? Trump's ban has anything to do with GOP? You are so confused.

You are again wrong here. For all the immigrants from China, Russia, India over the past decades, where those folks ended up with? Most of them went into technology fields. Few of them came here to get MBA in the 1990s to early 2000s. With the hostile environment, I think China will be happy to get back all of those people who are in their prime ages of 50s...

I do not think China wants to be the world #1 leader. Look at how much US spends over the globe. This is the reason Trump wanted to change. But he failed. US politicians want to retain the #1 leader position. US spent all the money to defend on foreign soil and care less about the homeless people in NYC and SF....

Because China has become a threat. The world has actually believed that China is really peaceful. Now it's woken up to the reality that it's not. That's what's changed. A kido's 2 minute dancing video might not pose national security but its IP address, its Wifi network structure, its MAC address, its accidental inclusion of her uncle's friend's neighbour's drinking buddy's son-in-law who happens to be working for the US Pentagon that happened to be working on something classified could be.

And Trump did not ban Wechat. It just banned the payment feature of WeChat as far as I remember. And the reason is obvious. Do you want the financial detail of every single transaction to be exposed to a country that is a threat to your way of life and values? You might not mind but I certainly do not.
