No you gave me the legal response as to why the USPS would not pay the $700 or so in fees, it did not mean the tickets were not valid and they would not reprimand the drivers for getting them. Wow according to you I can get a job as a USPS driver and do donuts in the middle of an intersection and break laws because they have immunity from laws! You are confusing paying fines and getting the ticket. They are immune from the first but not the second. So the cop in Detriot was WRONG to differentiate the Amazon driver and the USPS.
No. i gave you the legal response. I will highlight the key phrase used for your convenience: However, as you are probably aware, the Postal Service enjoys federal immunity from state and local regulation . . . The Postal Service requires its employees to obey all traffic laws and rules while operating Postal Service vehicles. However, the state and/or local ordinances imposing penalties and fines cannot be enforced as against the Postal Service.” This is the final comment I will make on this completely irrelevant point of the thread. Have the last word, please.
You just have to state it correctly. Immunity from fines and penalties is not the same as not having to follow the law.
In your OP you also spoke about 'free speech.' ? I just feel it's better to have an 'all inclusive ' discussion when it comes a broad subject like racism or perceived racism and free speech. ok !!
Do you even read your knee jerk responses? You say no one is using a broad brush and in the same sentence pull out your broad brush claiming all of us get together and complain. You completely ignore where I wrote that once is too much. Totally ignore where I say blacks have a legit complaint. Act as if "all of us" support police brutality. Your post is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with this situation. Only interested in driving your own point while not giving any real time to any idea other than your own. IOW, on this issue you're full of shit.
I'm not saying you can't say what you want. I'm asking you to keep the thread on topic. Please feel free to create as many threads as you want on your own. I'm sorry if you are unable or unwilling to see the difference. If you have examples that you consider racism but believe I would defend, I would be happy to debate you on any of it. I suspect, however, that your intent is merely to google articles to show that there is racism out there. Yes. We already know there is. You're adding nothing to the conversation (as usual).
This should only apply when the request is legal. Police trying to use intimidation and authority against a citizen should be heavily frowned upon. I've been talking to a lawyer about this and her advice is to not volunteer anything. In my personal experience, volunteering information and trying to be co-operative has ended badly for me previously. Would have worked in my favor to just be quiet. Say as little as possible, consult a lawyer, that's my motto...
I was referring to actions more than anything else, and simply because of personal safety. I'd rather argue something I didn't agree with later, with a lawyer and a dash cam. If I were pulled over and a cop immediately yanked me out of the car (for some unknown or crazy reason) and threw me to the ground with no cause, I would not resist at all. Resisting wouldn't be a good idea and I'd just make it worse. Instead, I'd comply completely (as long as my life wasn't in direct jeopardy) and then get a lawyer and sue the cop and the city. But no, I would not voluntarily give up information if I believe the cop had no right to it.
Agreed. Resisting is completely pointless unless you have a car and a private jet ready to take you to somewhere without extradition.
Right. This is why I do not understand when people argue that an individual was treated harshly when they told the police officer to piss off or ignored a command from the officer. What did you think would happen if you do this? Do they have a point that some officers react improperly with force or excessive force? Yep. Some do. But how dumb do you have to be to put yourself in this scenario? Obey the request of the cop. If you believe it to be invalid or unjust, there is a process for going that path. You're not proving anything if you allow yourself to get your ass beat.
