Bush is just smart enough to surround himself with the best and the brightest.(Rice, Cheney, Rumsfield, Rove, Powell) He is an MBA that doesn't need to get credit for or make all of the decisions, but oversee and keep the troops directed. I learned this approach many years ago and for me and many others it really works best. No one is smart enough to have all the answers to everything and only the people that think they are exceptionally smart miss being WISE enough to rely on a team.
Very true, this is a good statement. Unfortunately there are many people who do not understand this theory.

As an Australian I don't want to buy into the discussion about Bush. However I ran into a post on a site called (of all things) http://www.atheists-for-jesus.com/cgi-bin/discuss.cgi When I saw a particular post I couldn't resist to publish it here About Bush; the President: When a prophet says "Saddam's Days As a Ruler are numbered" and it comes to pass - that prophet is a true prophet! Ryanmitcho, your stupidity and ignorance astounds me. First of all, let me explain why I feel this war is wrong⦠1. After 9/11, Bush promised retribution against its perpetrators (justifiably so). With Osama still at large, it strikes me that his primary motivation for pursuing war against Iraq is to convince the American public that he has eradicated the problem by simply delivering the head of a different Islamic supervillain (who many people mistakenly believe to be one and the same thanks to his propaganda and fear-mongering). Donât get me wrong, Saddamâs likely a complete prick whoâs been oppressing his people, but there is no evidence to suggest that he had any involvement in 9/11 whatsoever. There also lies a strong possibility that personal motives exist as a result of his fatherâs presidential term. 2. Diplomatically, Bushâs primary argument to the world in favor of war was that Iraq has violated U.N. weapons resolutions on numerous occasions. After presenting his case to the U.N., a strong majority decided that the evidence presented was not enough to justify a war. In the end, Dubya decided that although Iraq must be held accountable to U.N. decisions, his government is above them. I must admit though, itâs hard to for me to gauge how much of a threat Iraq really is without having access to classified U.S. intelligence. None of us really know the full story and we can only speculate (which most of us do for living anyway) based on the information weâve been given. But the evidence presented to the U.N. and the rest of the public was questionable at best and we have basically been told to blindly believe that this regime is an immediate danger to America and the rest of Western civilization. I myself am very skeptical as to whether this is actually true. I also donât feel that enough effort was put into resolving this issue diplomatically (but Bush probably never had any plans of going that route in the first place). 3. Defeating the Iraqi military likely wonât take long at all. Itâs an outright mismatch from a military perspective. But the long term effects could be much more significant. Negative feelings towards the U.S. are already quite high in the Middle East and in many other parts of the world. The more that the U.S. government goes sticking its nose where it doesnât belong (which most of the world feels it is currently doing) the more prevalent these sentiments will become. Think of the generation of kids who have nothing in the Middle East who will grow up despising the U.S. Some of them will eventually aspire to commit terrorist attacks against the U.S. If you really want to stop terrorism, attack the root of the problem. Donât kid yourself; violence will just beget more violence, one way or another. Certainly, if there were a situation where the U.S. was legitimately being threatened, there would be just cause for war. This war isnât though, itâs a waste of life and money and it will needlessly cause more hate and intolerance. As for you Ryanmitcho, you clearly have some deep-rooted personal issues to work out. You really seem to have passionately bought into this us vs. them, âgoodâ vs. âevilâ mentality. Maybe you should go watch Red Dawn or Rocky 4 instead of promoting all this ignorance, intolerance and hostility. And what's with this left wing/right wing shit? It's so stupid, there's way more than two different sets of views a person could have. But I'm going to assume that you're on team "right". It's too bad that your own country is infested with all these "evil" people who threaten your way of life. Your life must be tough with all these ememies you have both domestically and abroad. You also assume I donât support the coalition troops. This is not the case at all. I hope that as casualties are as low as possible on both sides and this war ends as soon as possible. I even hope the U.S. wins. I just think this war is unnecessary. You might think its âpansyâ, but I want to live in a peaceful world. Peace isnât âgayâ.
How come Dan Quayle seems to be getting the worst of this poll? Is he supposed to represent the bottom of the barrel? Why not have included someone that was a complete failure? At least Quayle, though he seemed to be an idiot, was a self made idiot. Dubya needed familie ties and strong connections to be the idiot he is. SPC
Dan Quayle wasn't a self made idiot - his family was big money in newspapers(?) in Indiana. He was - and is - a self confirming idiot. BTW SPC, your alter-ego is out there somewhere.
ahh, guess I should have not jumped to conclusions. but I do feel more reassured knowing that the public did not get taken with an idiot like Quayle without some help on his side. Now the poll makes more sense. Two holders of national office with a little help from fine connections, and big bucks. days of Truman over forever? my alter-ego? Which one?? SPC
Symbolism is crucial in politics. The burning symbol from the Clinton years in foreign and defense affairs is undoubtedly the"Blackhawk Down" fiasco. It perfectly symbolized the inability of liberal democrats to walk and chew gum at the same time when it comes to protecting this country or the soldiers they are so quick to send on dangerous but trivial missions. The horror and shame of our troops being slaughtered and their bodies dragged through the streets emboldened dictators and terrorists worldwide. They took particular note that our response was to put our tail between our legs and slink out. In fairly quick order we had Khobar Towers bombing, the US Cole bombing, the African embassy attacks and , finally 9/11. The shining symbolism of the Bush Presidency will undoubtedly be the Saddam statue being pulled down by jubilant Iraqis. The message has gone out and been received loud and clear: Don't fuck with us or you'll get the same thing. Or maybe terrorist Abu Abbas just had a problem with his visa and that's why the Syrians turned him away at the border.
