All the Theologians I know would say the opposite, that they know little on the matters of scientific discovery, but they would emphatically agree that the Universe, everything we see, smell & touch was created by God, at the very minimun created . It's not hard to look around you and see that all this is way too complicated to be mere chance. Are there things left to discover, things we haven't learned, Yes, but I can say the same about God. I'm not trying to persuade you towards any certain belief, God draws his own to himself, but to search for him you have to drop the blinders of scientific atheism, as it disregards any evidence that contradicts and distorts that which is naturally obvious.
Beta, you might like this quote from Ann Druayn (Carl Sagan's wife): "I've been thinking about the distorted view of science that prevails in our culture. I've been wondering about this, because our civilization is completely dependent on science and high technology, yet most of us are alienated from science. We are estranged from its methods, its values, and its language. Who is the scientist in our culture? He is Dr. Faustus, Dr. Frankenstein, Dr. Strangelove. Heâs the maker of the Faustian bargain that is bound to end badly. Where does that come from? We've had a long period of unprecedented success in scientific discovery. We can do things that even our recent ancestors would consider magic, and yet our self-esteem as a species seems low. We hate and fear science. We fear science and we fear the scientist. A common theme of popular movies is some crazed scientist somewhere setting about ruining what is most precious to all of us. I think the roots of this antagonism to science run very deep. They're ancient. We see them in Genesis, this first story, this founding myth of ours, in which the first humans are doomed and cursed eternally for asking a question, for partaking of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Itâs puzzling that Eden is synonymous with paradise when, if you think about it at all, itâs more like a maximum-security prison with twenty-four hour surveillance. Itâs a horrible place. Adam and Eve have no childhood. They awaken full-grown. What is a human being without a childhood? Our long childhood is a critical feature of our species. It differentiates us, to a degree, from most other species. We take a longer time to mature. We depend upon these formative years and the social fabric to learn many of the things we need to know. So here are Adam and Eve, who have awakened full grown, without the tenderness and memory of childhood. They have no mother, nor did they ever have one. The idea of a mammal without a mother is, by definition, tragic. Itâs the deepest kind of wound for our species; antithetical to our flourishing, to who we are." http://www.csicop.org/si/show/ann_druyan_talks_about_science_religion/ Seneca
If they know so little, why reject scientific fact, not theory, in regards to our evolution? Such a flat out denial of reality says the complete opposite if they want you to believe they are somehow objective in their views. Feelings or personal revelation aren't a valid standard of truth. Your god is certainly free to reveal itself to mankind in such a way that even the most hard-line atheist would accept its reality. Until that day occurs, theists have nothing but feelings, ancient scripts, and personal revelation to offer those skeptical of their theism. That, my friend, is simply not enough to be taken seriously in any subject outside of theology.
Lol, He already has, but most don't want to acknowledge the fact..... to note; your request for 1st person knowledge will come to fruition someday, hopefully it will end on a positive. regards
Yes, I am overly aware of this bizarre issue-indeed, the Wycliffe bible is one of the most important texts in English history. Very interesting reading, it's still a big pile of bullshit, but a real time capsule of the English language at the time, and of critical historical importance.
End of story ? .....How is that anything like healthy objective skepticism? What exactly are you trying to say by "scientific" anyway? Either it's scientific or it isn't. Science essentially is healthy objective skepticism, it's how discovery happens. A "fantastical "scientific" theory" would be creationism.
Good now why not carry on with your new non-troll approach and refrain from trying to read science as if it were your bible, where you fill in your own personal conclusions to everything.
AMEN: Doesn't it seem odd that the "evidence for the existence of god" is completely hidden from the greatest human minds who spend their professional lives exploring how the universe functions, yet it is perfectly clear to uneducated simpletons who have access to internet-linked terminals?
You stuPID putz. "End of story" only refereed to the explanation of my view. NOT that I'm done being open minded. ...or something from nothing or life from non life or stu has a brain...
