Here's your full quote. Another disastrous problem with Pascal's Wager for religious believers is, it's every bit as likely that the Christian God gave the gift of rational skepticism, and therefore after providing so many obvious clues, such as being unfalsifiable Itself, It expects the correct understanding to be that there is no God. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=3233482&#post3233482 If God exists, "the correct understanding" would be that there IS a God. NOT that "there is no God." What part of that don't you understand? Great example of classic STUpidity and being blinded by biases You're too unread for this conversation.
The correct understanding for a religious believer surely, would be the understanding God would want you to have. According to Pascal you cannot know what God wants. It may just as much want you to correctly understand by placing a "does not exist" or no bet at all, as much as any other bet, thus making the Wager completely useless. Which is exactly what it is. An utterly flawed philosophical argument that doesn't do what it promises. Useless. As is your response. Yes you are, without a doubt. You can't rationalize your silly beliefs so you resort to silly insult . How religious of you.
you miss the point of the wager and its logic... but even on your level.... any God who desires you find "none of the above" or "no belief" or "God does not exist" is not going to punish you if you have belief. At the very least even with our scenario the downside of believing is far smaller than the upside of believing Pacals logic remains unchallenged by you. Finally, in Pascals scenario.... it is a given you must bet. You might try reading it in context, you might take a more educated position.
I repeat the comments because you never respond with any proof. so once again -- will you be a troll? or will you provide a link to some evidence... 1. provide a link to a peer reviewed scientist... who says he has found proof of a pathway from non life to life here on earth.
Sorry you're so STUpid you can't grasp that if God exists, the "correct understanding" is that God IS. But we've seen that you're used to "thinking" the "correct understanding" is what you want so we understand your malfunction even if you don't. Try researching the wager and the thoughtful challenges to it. Yours is flawed and has been dismissed long ago. You might want to print out this thread, highlight what you wrote below and take it to your therapist (or future therapist if you don't have one yet).
No. It's that I don't accept your nonsensical version of the Wager. That's a different thing altogether. That's right, see if you can deal with the refutation I gave for once. It will be the first time you have done so. You don't know that. According to Pascal, you can't know that . Really, if you can't even understand what Pascal actually stipulates, you shouldn't be pretending only you know what's going on here. I even posted the thing for you. Look....it starts out..... "If there is a God, He is infinitely incomprehensible, since, having, neither parts nor limits, He has no affinity to us. We are then incapable of knowing either what He is or if He is..." See? Those are Pascal's rules for his Wager. You cannot know anything about what God is, let alone what 'He' will or will not do if you bet âHeâ exists. That's rubbish. It's perfectly obvious to anyone considering this rationally , that any downside is exactly the same as any upside. The Wager is actually useless, because Pascal particularly specifies from the get go that you cannot know how what God even is, therefore how 'He' would react to a bet - for exists, or a bet - for doesn't exist cannot be known So an upside (or downside however you look at it) - for exists could be just as much of a disaster . Find God's a contrarian to your own understanding of what you thought 'He' wants......and you're totally screwed. Bullshit. You just can't face up to the the fact as usual , your Christian apologetics don't work The context and the logic is exactly why the Wager is crap. Like any religious doctrine, it tells you what to do without first properly thinking things through. Pascalâs Wager does a great thinker like Pascal no credit. But then thatâs what religion does do to people . It drives otherwise perfectly rational beings into producing devastatingly flawed philosophical hogwash. In your case, just non thinking hogwash.
â¦There you go again. You just don't get it . Can't you help yourself at all? This thread, like many others, is full of refutation and links in answer to your silly comments. You don't answer them. You just make the same silly comments. There is no proof that would suit some people that the Earth isn't Flat. There is no proof that would ever suit you that the building blocks of life form from inorganic matter. But they do. Funny though how you need no proof whatsoever, that life came from a non life-invisible, unknowable, imaginary, magic man. More like weird actually. gay too.
