Just a couple points here...Someone I think Tsing? mentioned that wearing a mask in Florida is a pain in the ass because it is so hot. I lived in Florida for quite a few years in the Tampa area. Yeah, it's hot. But what is the normal routing for someone in Florida, or any other state? You exit your house or condo to get into your air-conditioned car. --- No mask needed. You get to the supermarket. You step out into the parking lot. Whoo! It's hot! ---No mask needed, unless the Publix parking lot is jammed full of people standing in groups, hovering around your car. K, fine. Then you walk into the store, which is air-conditioned. So it's not hot. ---Mask needed, so you put it on while walking to the entrance. You finish your shop and walk back out into the parking lot where it is hot. Take off your mask, since it is not needed, unless there's that huge group of people hovering around you as you walk to your car. Get back into your air-conditioned car, where it is cold and no mask needed. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when you get into car after loading the groceries. Drive home, unload the groceries into the house where the mask is not needed, and wash hands with warm, soapy water. Why is this a difficult concept? It is like Vanz said early on in this thread. Is it totally necessary for healthy people, especially ones like myself and my friends who already had the COVID, to wear a mask in a crowded place? No! But we live in a society that has to help conform to a ruleset, so the rest of society benefits, to make up for the others who don't give a shit. Wearing a mask is really not that difficult! And think of all the poor folks who have to wear them for 8-9 hour shifts in supermarkets, etc. If they can do it for shifts, why can't we all do it for an hour? Geez!
142 dead from Covid today in California. Canada 12. Oh no, Covid deaths are "exploding" in California.
Interesting news out of Quebec yesterday... their COVID rates are much lower than in the U.S. but they still are very cautious. Red alert level brings partial 28-day lockdown to 3 Quebec regions including Montreal, Quebec City https://globalnews.ca/news/7363360/quebec-coronavirus-red-alert-montreal/amp/
China PMI numbers look good. A minor Caixin is coming in 45 mins, so now the weight is on the debates.
This is a great thread to remember people's stances on masks. For when folks try to get us to do it again (which they are trying to do now).
Masks are GREAT! They let us know who are the hypochondriacs and ugly motherfuckers. On the down side - They don’t work to stop respiratory virus transmission, as we have discovered via 100 plus years of clinical research. Watching the covidtards redon their talismans is a sign of who the REALLY sick people are.
You right wingers are so easily manipulated. I live in lefty liberal NJ and almost no one is wearing a mask and there is no requirement to do so anywhere, as far as I know.
Yeah - us free thinkers are so easily manipulated. No one wearing one now - but YOU weak minded fearful sheep will start again once the news lady tells you to.
Lefties need to get the official signal from the DNC to know when to wear masks. So when it happens it happens all at once. Right now the left is confused about whether wearing masks as a means of shaming republicans is a winner or not. This is what it looks like when they follow "the science." There are exceptions to this. For example, in Chicago, the teachers union determines the science. I see that Jill Biden has Covid- so I automatically assume the Teachers Union is colluding about how to get paid for not teaching.
