Hey... Amen on that. F em.

    100% true.
Do I need a mask on to pump gas into my car?!!!
FFFFFFF*ck no. That's just plain stupid.

Tbh, I don't think this stuff is as insidious as they say either, but I'm simply pointing out the logic (and somewhat trolling B1 I guess) in wearing a mask. If what the CDC or other health organizations say is true that is.

I have no friggin idea if its airborne, lives on surfaces, or any other thing. But if what they say is true... then my argument stands... with a "case closed" attached to the end of it.

  2. Take a moment and visualize the process of pumping gas. Do you touch the nozzle handle with your bare hands? Do you touch the handle with bare gloves? Most people tough their face several times per hour.

Do you often go inside to either pay for fuel, buy something, or use the restroom? Does doing so entail putting on and taking off the same mask frequently? Certainly you can visualize the contamination risks of frequently putting the same mask on and off, right?

When walking outside, can you predict when you will not meet someone that you haven’t seen in a while and not end up being engaged in a conversation with someone else not wearing a mask?

Covid-19 is real and has been spreading. Taking proper precautions reduces risk of infection and may eventually eliminate this virus. Whether this virus is serious enough to make the effort in eradicating it is debatable, but developing good habits in using PPE is an important step in prepardness should a more dangerous strain develop, whether by nature or by man.

By the way, tests show Covid-19 can remain viable on surfaces for hours. Covid-19 can be transmitted through the air in quantity through dropplets through a cough, sneezing, or even through voice projection such as singing or yelling. The point of the ubiquitous 3-ply masks are to buy you some time to leave an area if there is evidence someone is sick before getting infected. In unavoidable known higher risk settings, don’t forget your goggles.

You apparently have almost zero ability to objectively look at data and evaluate it. And, again, you evaded my specific question again. Because, again, to answer it would mean you would have to admit Canada had a good approach. And either through ignorance or false pride, you are unwilling to do so.

Do continue to enjoy your Covid experience you've earned it.

There's no denying that a mask adds a layer of protection. I don't care what empirical data you have, or what study you want to quote saying masks are ineffective. Its horseshit. A mask - anything - that you put between you and your mouth is going to add a layer of protection. This is just common sense and logic.

So if you're saying "masks don't work", stop saying that. They do work. Whether they provide a measurable level of protection is a different story.

It isn't about the mask offering protection. We can all walk around in space suits or deep sea diving gear, too. That will make sure no one catches any germs from each other. The question is what benefit you are getting for what annoyance or level of bother. Again, the reason you will all be arguing this until the end of the world is because that part of the equation is subjective.

If Ebola was flying around, you can bet your ass everyone would be religiously wearing a mask. They'd probably go further than that and wear full PPE if they had to go out. There would be no manner of inconvenience people wouldn't subject themselves to for a virus that kills 50-90% (depending on the strain) of the population.

The problem is that most of us aren't at risk from anything more than a bad cold. The vast - and I mean VAST - majority of us don't have any risk of hospitalization or death. Kids are practically immune. No manner of arguing this is going to change the data.

So you're pissing people off by telling them to wear something that offers a marginally better chance of prevention for a virus they aren't afraid of and it annoys the shit out of them to have to put something over their face. I hate it. I hate having this thing preventing me from getting fresh air. Bothers me to no end. Then there is the aspect of people pushing another level of control on you.

Do I wear one? I wear one because there is a mandate in force and I have no choice. Do I wear it where I am not forced to? Hell no.

The people at risk from COVID should be wearing masks. Not healthy folks. We are taking someone else's handicaps and making it the responsibility of everyone to make sure old man Willbury is kept safe. If Old Man Willbury has a problem that makes himself more susceptible to the virus, that isn't MY problem. He should take precautions. Your diseases and health isn't my concern. Its your concern. I concern myself with me and my family. You with you and yours. Stop telling me I have to concern myself with you.

I don’t get the issue about wearing a mask. I get not wearing it outside like running, walk8ng, biking or even in groups here and there. But if you need to wear a mask to shop, what’s the big deal? Are you not wearing it because of pride issues? I mean cmon man, grow the fuck up. Notice I’m not directing it to you specifically Tsing.

No, I know you're not calling me specifically out. We cool, brother.

I can tell you why I don't like wearing it. Florida is freaking hot. I hate having to put something over my mouth to make it harder to breathe. I know it doesn't restrict oxygen flow. But you're not getting fresher, cooler air back and it has an effect on me psychologically. I also don't like something over my ears. But again, I do it as required. I'm not being intentionally disruptive by not following the rules. What annoys me is that I know - please understand I chose the word "know" on purpose - that I am not at risk from this virus any more than the average cold viruses out there.

So I know I'm not at risk, and I'm asked to wear something that doesn't make me feel good to wear, and then in the grocery store (as an example) I put my products on the belt to be scanned with my bare hands and the cashier (who is behind a glass panel now - what a joke) picks up the items with her bare hands, scans them and passes them to a bagger who bags them with his bare hands and then hands me the bags which I then take with my bare hands. Not to mention cash if it is used and receipts. Then everyone goes back to picking their nose, scratching their mouth, eyes, sneezing outside the mask and all the other stuff that is MUCH more conducive to passing infection. But hey, we all have to wear a bandana or cloth and call it "science". Science, sure. Its much more akin to superstition.

    That's what annoys me.

Covid is real. But its also the big lie at the same time.

Its like the flu for 99.___ percent of the people.
Its very deadly for old people with co morbidities...

But we have had 33 million worldwide cases and we have no evidence of airborne transmission.

33 million cases an a handful of asymptomatic cases based on timelines and poor assumptions.

Our fucking leaders should be telling the Karens of the world the truth about this virus so we can make good decisions as a people.

Family members and workers bringing this virus to old people and fat people/co morbidities. Some of those people die. Talk to doctors... that is real deal. If you younger than 60 to 64 doctors don't even worry about you unless you are fat and have co morbities. I took my son the the emergency care last week. They had no desire to even test him. They looked at me and said even if he were positive... it does not matter. Do you have high risk people in the house? I said no. (it turns out he had a migraine from looking at his screen all day and then having his first math test of the year.)

If you are one of those high risk people... you gotta kick you families out or practice very
rigorous protocols and you gotta isolate.

For the rest of us... all we have to do is keep our distance and wash our hands.

Recently over 60,000 college kids got infected.
Nobody stayed overnight in a hospital from what I read a few days ago.

The virus spreads by droplets. Masks don't do shit unless you are letting symptomatic people breathe on you over a period of time... and then maybe they help if you change it quickly without infecting yourself.

If you are in a high risk group, there are things you can do to protect yourself and put the odds in your favor. Buy a pulse oximeter and this was suggested by a doctor, to quickly, monitor the oxygen in your body. A reading of 95 or higher and you are fine. Below 90 and it means you are getting less oxygen and if there are other symptoms, you might have contracted Corona Virus. You can take zinc gluconate, vitamin C and vitamin D to boost your immunity. Also, take a hot bath at home after your trip, when out and about say, on a trip to the grocery store or post office. That should kill any Corona Virus droplets if any, had clung to your body. Wash your hands and face too when you get home. Wear a mask. It gives you some protection where there are a lot of people around you.
