  2. basically.. the Options exchange is nothing but one BIG LEGAL CASINO. and they will list any options which they know will be sold. they have hit a jackpot here..

earlier the AMEX exchange came up with another option. called binary option. where your bets are binary. will SPY close above 110 or not .. etc....

this did not catch up.. with the gamblers and it went away...

but weeklys.. I am surprised. why they did not think about it. earlier...

  3. YES.. I do agree with your "fun" statement. there is too much entertainment - just like in a casino.. actually .even better..

read the quotes.. make a bet..and watch the result..

i have stopped going to casinos that frequently... they dont provide me the fun. that monthly Options expiration does... and now it is 4X. woo hoo..

but mind you.. this "fun" you better know what you are doing.. I generally sell... options.. even more for me.... a big move can take not only all my "fun" but years of earnings away. in one swoop..

this does not happen at a casino... he he..

From the CBOE website regarding the new weeklys

Equities such as: AAPL, BAC, BP, F, GOOG and others*

*Note that the ticker symbols listed here are examples and may not be available for trading on any given week.

Currently the number of Weeklys classes that can be listed at any given time is limited. Consequently, the names available for trading may change from week to week, with one class being added and another deleted. The list of classes available to trade for the current week and the following week can be found at: Excel file they update with available weeklys

So I think they may sometimes be targetting symbols that could see increased volatility during a given week, at least that's what the header on the page makes it sound like a little bit.

  8. +10% in a week :)

i agree with SForce that they target news stocks for a given week besides the regular selection.

Ohh I only said that because on that link I put in above it says at the top: No one wants to wait. With Weeklys from CBOE, you don't have to. Weeklys are options that are listed with approximately one week to expiration. Because of their short term Weeklys can be cheaper to use and can provide investors with more targeted trading opportunities. This flexibility can help investors take advantage of market events, such as earnings, government reports and Fed announcements.

Then they set it up so some of them will be dynamic? Yah, that to me just means they're targetting names that could see big moves in the coming week. It's perfectly fine with me, I was hoping they'd do exactly this for a long time, I just didn't expect it. .. I'm also glad it's not just the CBOE they trade on.
