I wonder if we can have a class action lawsuit against alarmists? The ones I've personally known have been demonstrably impaired personalities. On the one hand they could plead "disabled" on the other they would self-discredit on the witness stand.

My dad had friends in low places, I saw two of them beat a guy to a pulp just because he was a shrill repetitive-alarmist jerk... happy memory, that :)

    The Next Climate Scandal?
House Republicans hunt for evidence that temperature records are politicized.

    By

With their latest subpoena to the Obama administration, House Republicans risk descending into a rabbit hole, albeit a useful one.

Lamar Smith, the Texas GOPer who runs the House science and technology committee, has been seeking, voluntarily and then not so voluntarily, emails and other internal communications related to a study released earlier this year by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The study, by adjusting upward temperature readings from certain ocean buoys to match shipboard measurements,..."

Exxon Mobil under investigation in NY over climate change

The New York attorney general has begun a sweeping investigation ofExxon Mobil to determine whether the company lied to the public about the risks of climate change or to investors about how those risks might hurt the oil business.

According to people with knowledge of the investigation, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued a subpoena Wednesday evening to Exxon Mobil, demanding extensive financial records, emails and other documents.
    The focus includes the
company's activities dating to the late 1970s, including a period of at least a decade when Exxon Mobil funded groups that sought to undermine climate science. A major focus of the investigation is whether the company adequately warned investors about potential financial risks stemming from society's need to limit fossil-fuel use.

This is going to blow up in the face of the NY attorney general if he pursues it. First of all Exxon is not based in New York - he is clearly overstepping his boundaries.

Secondly if this goes to court it will become the first trial in the U.S. that will be built around the topic of if AGW exists. And the attorney general will lose this trial and it will set a legal precedent of "climate change" policy.

Exxon has much deeper pockets than the AG. The AG appears to be doing this as a political stunt to make headlines; it is going to burn him badly.

if the ag has chuck schumer or some other big fed govt lefty on his side... all they have to do is threaten monopoly, or sec, or epa other sort of d.c leftist extraction agency and get the press involved.

this will be pure profit extraction in exchange for a settlement. they will probably get exxon mobil to pay for all sorts of studies... and support them. I always thought MSNBC was the price Microsoft has to pay to make the windows antitrust actions to go way.

More Oil Companies Could Join Exxon Mobil as Focus of Climate Investigations

"The opening of an investigation of Exxon Mobil by the New York attorney general's office into the company's record on climate change may well spur legal inquiries into other oil companies, according to legal and climate experts, although successful prosecutions are far from assured.

Many oil companies have funded lobbying efforts and research on climate change, so prosecutors would most likely be able to search through vast amounts of material. The industry has also resisted pressure for years from environmental groups to warn investors of the risks that stricter limits on carbon emissions could have on their businesses, although that appears to be changing.

"Exxon Mobil is not alone," said Stephen Zamora, a professor at the University of Houston Law Center. "This is not likely to be an isolated matter."..."

And just how many times have the moderators told futurecurrents to stop posting this list with the pretty pictures... Is is 10, 20, of 30 now?

In his attempts to "drown out" the skeptics, futurecurrents has posted this over 200 time. When is enough enough already.
