It's better than coal. Not saying much. The govt is moving to further reduce the methane emissions at the fracking sites. But nat gas is still a fossil fuel. It's not a solution but an intermediate step. Aside from the CO2 emissions coal also has particulate and mercury pollution problems. The larger fish in eastern US lakes have such high levels of mercury in them that they cannot be eaten by pregnant women and everyone else should not have more than one meal per month. The particulates cause respiratory and heart problems. Trump says there is such a thing as clean coal. Big surprise, no there is not.
Study Strengthens Link between El Niño and Climate Change The cycle of Pacific Ocean surface water warming and cooling has become more variable in recent decades, suggesting El Niño may strengthen under climate change Credit: Wikimedia Commons/NOAA Predicting the behavior of the El Niño weather cycle is a challenge for forecasters and climate scientists, and the stakes are high. El Niño and its counterpart La Niña, driven by changes in sea-surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean, can have major effects on weather conditions hundreds and thousands of miles away. Studies have linked catastrophic floods, droughts, disease outbreaks, wildfires and even social unrest to the weather cycle, known as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation. Yet scientists have struggled to understand whether climate change is altering that cycle. Climate models have produced conflicting results, and reliable instrumental records of ENSO events begin in the early 20th century. Now a new study, which builds on prior efforts to reconstruct El Niño's past behavior by examining coral growth, suggests that El Niño and La Niña events have become more variable and intense over the past several decades. "We kind of answered the question, is El Niño changing with respect to recent natural variability?" said Kim Cobb, the Georgia Institute of Technology climate scientist who led the research published yesterday in the journal Science. "The answer is yes, tentatively so." The 7,000-year portrait painted by the corals she examined suggests El Niño may get stronger as the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere climbs, Cobb said. But researchers will need to do more work -- including a concerted effort to fill gaps in the record of El Niño's past behavior -- to prove that connection, for now a tentative one, she said. "It could be thrown out," Cobb said. "But whatever the result, we will have confidence with more data." ... https://www.scientificamerican.com/...hens-link-between-el-nino-and-climate-change/
How Much Do El Niño and La Niña Affect Our Weather? This fickle and influential climate pattern often gets blamed for extreme weather. A closer look at the most recent cycle shows that the truth is more subtle By Emily Becker | Scientific American October 2016 Issue California grows more than 90 percent of the tomatoes, broccoli and almonds consumed in the U.S., as well as many other foods. These crops require a lot of water. In the spring of 2015, after four years of little winter rain, the state was in a severe drought. Reservoirs were far below capacity, and underground aquifers were being heavily tapped. Mountain snowpack, an important source of meltwater throughout the spring and summer, was nearly gone in many areas.... https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-much-do-el-nino-and-la-nina-affect-our-weather/
Fraud, Like I have stated numerous times, you alarmist have nothing to worry about. The only solution if there is a problem with plant food is an alternative energy to fossil fuels. Dumb ass Fraudcurrents just can't seem to understand this simple fact. The regurgitating parrot just keeps repeating that we need to tax the shit out of everything and taxes are the answer to everything. Just like a good little sheeple. There are already thousands of private companies working on alternative energy sources. No need to tax anything you libtard. Do you think we still need a tax if the below company is able to put this technology on the market within the next 5 years? Also, do you have shit for brains? This company is working on a breakthrough technology that can solve the perceived CO2 problem without any tax payer money. But, I know you won't care. You will still think there needs to be a tax regardless. Proving that GW is really just a political religious ideology and it has nothing to do with science. ABOUT TRI ALPHA ENERGY (TAE) Tri Alpha Energy's purpose is to deliver world-changing clean fusion energy technology as fast as possible. Starting with the end in mind – a fusion solution that delivers practical science, engineering integration and competitive economics – TAE developed a unique combination of advanced particle accelerator and plasma physics. The resulting technology is compact, aneutronic, carbon-free and sustainable with a safe environmental profile. Backed by private capital, TAE is well along in validating both the science and engineering integration of this technology. While important work remains, Tri Alpha Energy believes it understands the path forward to the first fusion-based commercial power plant.
or it could be changing because the oceans have been warming for the last 10,000 years. has man made co2 been causing the oceans to warm since the last ice age.
Or it could be any number of things, including little green men. If the scientists have done their job correctly, extraneous correlations have been debunked. As I said very early in this thread: HFGW is not irrefutable, only very probably, to a confidence of two standard deviations (including all the other possible effects on the atmosphere and oceans). Each year, the evidence grows, and I expect that by 2030, we will be at five standard deviations. However, it is still possible that some weird effect is at root cause. But at 5 std, you might as well believe in ghosts because they are more likely. The people that choose to preempt now are just using risk analysis. Too risky to hope it is a fluke since at some point, the warming is runaway and is unstoppable to an E.L.E except by some super-advanced extra-terrestrial race.
Read my last post again. I am not saying you have or should agree with it, but a response to your response is already in that post. I clearly disagree that Sun effects are the cause of HFGW at the 95% confidence level the hypotheses that HFGW is correct cannot be falsified. And as we progress with more evidence, I expect that we will get to a very high level of confidence. But I could be wrong.
For many of you, this is a political issue. I don't care one way or the other which is true, only that we are doing the consciousnable action in the presence of the evidence and scientific ignorance we have to deal with because we don't have the data nor the computer processing power to get to near certainty. If tomorrow it is debunked that HFGW is incorrect, great! If not and the evidence gets worse, I will be happy to have supported leaders that are dealing with it at extreme caution to preempt it.
