"Other major automakers reported declines, including 19 percent for General Motors Co., 25 percent for Nissan Motor Co., 17 percent for Honda Motor Co. and 9.4 percent for Chrysler Group LLC." Quit wasting taxpayer money and let what will happen, happen, without trying to delay it which only will make the ending much worse. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aFmpXbJmk.w8 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=172069
I have a feeling after this $2 Billion is depleted they are going to send even more money towards this cash for clunkers, I think they might keep it going until the end of 2009. Only way to keep this economy afloat is with free handouts, sad that everyone thinks growth is going to come out of these stimulus plans, all were doing is creating more debt, sad, sad fools.
People will become conditioned to "waiting for discount/credit" before buying anything. Bad for margins and profits.
let's see.. 1 billion barely lasted a week. 2 more billion might get it through another 7-10 days. They wanted this to last through September 30th. That's about 8-10 billion easy given the strong demand.
The government should just pay 50% of the cost of a new car for anyone who wants one for the next couple of years. Why not? Hell, make it 75%.
