The currency problem is an issue. I live in Norway and trade in the US. In 2001 I got close to 900 NOK for every 100 USD. Today the exchange rate is 680 NOK for 100 USD. Kroner have appreciated almost 25% in that period (and the dollar plummeted). That means I have to trade 25% better to make the same amount of money.....
I use oanda to (un)intelligently hedge my dollar/pound risk. You could just fix it at the rate when you convert the physical currency, but of course fear/greed comes into it and you can end up daytrading the forex like I do! The only problem with this is that when you are not mentally up to trading you have to as you are never really in a "flat" position. Also strong moves in the currencies sometimes happen the same time as strong stock moves. I have 2 pc's and you will just have to picture me holding on to both mice for dear life. I feel like a hardcore DJ when this happens !!!
it is for trading or hedging currencies. Search on this board and you will find lots of posts about them (both good and bad!)
