Eurex was shut down in europe this morning (8-9.30am ish london time) it wasn't any broker issue as we trade direct on the exchange here.

It was like the other day when it went down the guys at the exchange in Frankfurt told us they knew they had a problem but weren't sure what it was, so they couldn't say how long it would take to fix! Bloody useful. The servers had probably run out of coal! :D

They just said look at the website and we'll tell you when we'll start the preopen again.

If anyone could trade futures through a broker at this time then it was a private party between you and the broker because the exchange was shut.

  2. That sounds sensible though does any one have a sugestion for a hedge that can be taken through a futures broker rather than a bucketshop?

    Cheers,

Does anyone knows what's the problem at Eurex? Eurex used to be one of the best but lately scalpers are complaining about Eurex (little delays) and the last 2 weeks it goes down twice for at least an hour. Is it just a temporally problem or is it more serious!

    Thanks,
    FT79

  5. this is just further proof if any was needed that Eurex matching engine sucks ass.

It was crap technology when it was first introduced, but as the exchange volume has grown serious slowdowns are increasingly common when it gets busy, and peak volume days during rollover it just crashes like this month.

    What a joke.

Its institutional arrogance at the board level that refuses to recognize how inferior Eurex's exchange systems really are vs the other exchange platforms. The whole 250ms "heartbeat" which is just another word for update netting to reduce bandwith and load on the system is so fricking lame its untrue. LIFFE connect manages realtime updates, but Eurex cant.

And Eurex had the gall to suggest that Euronext should adopt their "superior technology" and had the bigger cheek to say that LIFFE should put this to their shareholders for a decision when their suggestions was dismissed out of hand with derisive laughter.

Imagine trying to trade Euribor on a Eurex platform... yuk!!

Eurex needs to cut its losses on this "trade" and dump its matching system for a new one, regardless of how many hundred million € they supposedly have spent on it. Even ICE's platform is better than Eurex, and ICE's is near the bottom of the pile.

When Euronext merge with Eurex which technology are they going to adapt? There is concern in London that Liffe will move to frankfurt.

Is Eurex down again? Since the last 30 miutes my Esignal and TT datafeeds for Eurex are both down with both quoting the last price at 5915 for FDAX.

    Anyone having the same trouble?

No problems on the exchange, make sure you've rolled over to Dec now as Sep has just expired
